2635-222 Dual Band On Off Module.

I was really excited to have a dual band appliance linc, as I have an original with an access point PLUGGED into the bypass plug that the ISY still complains it cannot communicate reliably. (yes have done the 4 tap test and I can query it fairly often) It does seem to respond to programs nearly all the time, the other day the fan might not have turned off, but that's not a big deal in this application.

However, this unit has no by pass outlet on it, which in some uses is a big deal..

Wonder if it works as a controller...

I am still new to Insteon, but the product page says it will, but that could be a copy/paste from another page.

Scene Commands Supported as Controller

On Off

Fast-On Fast-Off

Begin Brighten Begin Dim

End Brighten End Dim

Looking through the manual, however, it doesn't say anything about it. It does talk about the "Programming Wheel"…not sure I have seen that before. It mentions putting the module in Multi-Link Mode, which would really only make sense for Controllers, right?

Thanks. I missed that on the product fluff page. I went right to the user manual and the programming wheel gave me a headache.

The FCC filing shows it being listed as a controller with the on and off buttons both reporting, which would be nice in the bathroom for the towel warmer.

Just put in a preorder for one of these since I needed an on/off module for a hot water recirc pump that's being installed. I assume that current ISY software doesn't yet support it - what would the ETA for that support likely be?

I was on the Smarthome Sales site today and the module is now shipping.

Since I still use X10 addresses in my modules for a 16 button remote control. The new modules not supporting X10 means I will not be purchasing any of them. Unless forced by the eventual demise of the 2456S3 old ones.

Everyone knows that X10 is going away. But, one of the hall marks and selling points was the backwards support for X10.

Tens of thousands of people have legacy X10 products. I can't understand why this new On / Off module wouldn't support X10? :?:

Its not like its going to take up too much storage space in the chip! Sometimes the lack of wisdom on the part of Insteon / Smarthome is truly astounding.

If Brian feels this way, consider how many more X10 (potential customers) feel the same way!

I just hope the Insteon Gold Support Line has lots of patience with the module.

I can't see anyone trying to set one up with out a controller. Like an ISY994i or HouseLinc.

That setting wheel thing is going to make using the set buttons quite confused.

Seems a few older features have also been deprecated. No X10, Load Sense, Front Outlet. I am also curious to learn how this device comes back up during a power loss. I have both types were it either returns to its last known state, or simply stays off.

It would be great if this device comes back on to its last known state.

Oh I have a few ApplianceLincs that always power up Off.

Even more confusing. I have one with a higher hardware revision ApplianceLinc and it again power up to its last known state not always Off.

No wounder the UDI team is always scrambling to update to cover Smartlabs whims.

Do I sound frustrated with Smartlabs and Smarthome. That is a big YES.

I guess I won't ask you about the thicker dual band switches eh?

No Dual Band Switches for me.

Old home. Very small electrical boxes. Can barely squeeze a older thinner one in with out a shoe horn.

So, I have to ask how did Smarthome / Insteon get the new dual band keypad to fit into that table top box? I can tell you from personal experience there isn't a lot of room for a SB switch in there?

Curious if the KPL's are thinner than the switches? That might help you down the road if that is the case.

I just got my 10 on/off modules via FedEx from them today. Installed fine on my ISY994i running 4.0.5 firmware. They work but show as "Unsupported Device v2.55" - I am replacing all my older Appliancelinc to strengthen my Dual Band network and get all new devices.

The old 2456S3 Appliancelinc seems to have followed the same path as the 2456D3 Lamplinc.

After yesterdays ending of the Black Friday sales. It is no longer found on the Smarthome web sales site and searching for the part number 2456S3 get the 2635-222 sales page.

The new db (2334) keypad is the same size as the old one (2486d) that it replaces. The on/off version (2487s) doesn't fit but at the same time it never did anyway.

The is information is for two recently purchased 2635-222R Refurbished On/Off modules. Present production ones maybe different.
Hardware 1.1S
Firmware v.46
Date Stickers 2714 & 1714

They will accept an X10 address. When the local On and Off buttons are pushed. An X10 messages is sent on the power lines.

The flow chart method of Factory Reset works as expected.

The old way also will do a Factory Reset.
Unplug.
Wait at least ten seconds.
Hold Set Button and plug in.
Continue to hold Set Button.
Will start beeping.
Keep holding Set Button until the beeping stops.
Release Set Button.
In a few seconds. LED flashes White. Factory Reset is done.
