Module: Climate, Criteria Light Level

I am trying to figure out the new Climate's module light level, as I copied the 4 program light-level programs from Wiki, where it looks at light-level and set turns lights on when it gets dark from a storm.

I cannot quite figure out what is happening, seems to be backwards,

0% =bright daylight, and 100%=dark.

Today    Partly Cloudy -  Currently 35-58%

Yesterday Stormy    -     Was at 69-80%

Not sure what is happening here, all stations are around me are within 1-2% of the same.

Station:  MID_E1689

I have now changed the "Clear Day" program light level to <= 70 and the "Stormy day" to > 70

My understanding that because the polling for weather is now every 5 minutes, the "Wait to change lights" program set at 5 minutes, could not change lighting for 10 minutes, depending on when the station was last polled. Would you suggest a change ?

So I am hoping that I have it right, now.

Light level is way off for me but certainly not reversed. Getting low levels on a bright sunny day but am getting 0 at night... I don't think I've seen anything close to 100 yet even though I should have. It's been chronically on the low side. I think Michel has passed on my report to ham weather but the problem has not gone away yet - been about a month and a half, I'd say. My source is the Ottawa int'l airport (Ontario, Canada) and you would think that weather data (accuracy) is important to an airport...

CPUJohn,

The light% does appear to work for my site (KSBN - northern Indiana).  This is the local airport which is a NWS/NOAA site.  I will say that I believe that the data is "calculated" based on the time of day and reported cloud conditions.  Neither the NWS, NOAA, or WeatherUnderground report light% for this site.  I have other PWS sites that report actual solar radiation - they are far less granular and indicate rapid transients with passing clouds.

Using a different site may resolve the issue (it can work).  Understand that a different site may not be the best for local climate data.  My use of KSBN is purely for data collection as it is 15 miles away.  Today KSBN has received .21" of rain where I have 0".  Balancing climate needs for irrigation against light% needs for scheduling may prove to be difficult.

Hello,

My stormy lights program has not worked correctly since the climate module changed.  I had modified mine to include "If day light and total rain were at certain levels.  It seems that the program only works with the light information and rain level is ignored even though nothing changed in my program.  Today I'm removing the and rain level statement and going with the vanilla stormy weather program and see what happens.

Hi Jim,

I am so very sorry to hear. HAM just fixed an issue with Rain Today values. Questions:

1. Is it raining right now? If so, do you get the correct value in Rain Today?

2. If #1 is true and when rain stops, do you get 0 for Rain Today (the next day)?

With kind regards,
Michel
