ravedog Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 If control "Bttn" is switched on Then Read my mind Do everything Else Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Teken Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 I don't have the time to go review the site so how is this all done in a nut shell? I assume its connected to something like IFTT? If so all of these people getting on this bandwagon is really getting old. I have seen quite a few projects that promised the moon but failed epically in all other aspects. Insight . . .
ravedog Posted September 18, 2014 Author Posted September 18, 2014 I actually think it's a joke. Can't possibly be real. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
stusviews Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Don't we do that now? The only thing I see different is the form factor of the button. For example, I do have a button that controls the window coverings and another that controls the thermostat. They're KPL buttons. And even a program that automatically allows the thermostat to control the window coverings based on the time of day--no button needed. Can't any button or paddle send a text? And the taxi button, just ring a bell at the front desk--or call Uber
apostolakisl Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Looks like an SNL skit. If it is real, I feel sorry for them. Gonna lose a lot of money.
stusviews Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 It's real. The button, um, I mean bt.tn makes use of IFTTT which has been around for a while.
MWareman Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Hmmmm... bt.tn => IFTTT => CAO Tag Manager => ISY - and on to any action you desire.
ravedog Posted September 18, 2014 Author Posted September 18, 2014 It's really incredibly stupid if real. One button one task. (Even in the video they have him clicking a button to send his email... WTF) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
EricK Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Looks like they ripped off the staple easy button. Obviously not real.
MWareman Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 $99 !!! Wow.... http://gizmodo.com/this-ifttt-enabled-panic-button-will-start-anything-but-1636133982
stusviews Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 It's really incredibly stupid if real. One button one task. Not so. A button can trigger a "scene," such as open the shades, adjust the thermostat, start the coffee, walk the dog. Well. maybe not the last task, but it can open a lock doggy door. All made much easier by pushing a large button--um--bt.tn than navigating a smartphone screen as your first task upon awakening
ravedog Posted September 18, 2014 Author Posted September 18, 2014 I should order 8 and make a huge KPL. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
stusviews Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 I should order 8 and make a huge KPL. I see the limitation now. There's no double-sized button, so a 6-button huge KPL is not possible
ravedog Posted September 19, 2014 Author Posted September 19, 2014 That's coming in bt.tn 2.0 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Xathros Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 (edited) Quoting the hamster in the Sprint commercial, "I don't know where to go with this" Seriously though, I have an 8 button Remotelinc 2 on my nightstand that does way more than one biga$$ Bt.tn could ever do for me and it takes up far less real estate. I'm fairly fure I paid less then $99 for the RL2 (SH shipping included!) and it does not require access to the cloud to perform any of it's assigned duties. Heck, even Apple hasn't figured out how to do eveything with a single button yet! -Xathros Edited September 19, 2014 by Xathros
apostolakisl Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 The simple/not simple part of the home automation is not the button(s). It is setting up the button's action. How this makes that easy doesn't seem to be addressed. Plus, one button, one task. Unless you want to get complex and have the button do different things based on current conditions. But now your programming of the button just got that much more complex. This solves nothing except to look like the silly Staples commercials. Now if the button summoned your AI computer to ask you what you wanted and then it could parse out your answer and execute it for you, that would be great. Though Apple and Google are starting to get there with that.

oberkc Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Other than those goofy, toyish buttons, I don't see anything remarkable. A button besides your bed that, when pushed, turns on some lights and coffee maker. A button by the front door that advises you when your daughter gets home. Did I miss something?
Teken Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 (edited) Still don't know if the whole thing is a joke or for reals? If real, its a great option for others to use. If fake well someone had lots of fun making this video to practice their video art! I am unimpressed and see no real value in this device as it comes across as dumb, lacking in status, and it really looks cheap and toyish. But what do I know I'm just a big kid after all LOL! stusviews Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Hmm, nice thing to have next to the bed for an elderly person or anyone with limited mobility or in need of a panic button. Fun thing to have for a youngster returning home or just needing to notify someone. No need to give the babysitter a list of phone numbers. An oddity for technophiles such as we

larryllix Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 I have an 88 key MIDI keyboard under my pillow and if I need something I just reach under my pillow and play a particular note to get the task done I want. If I want to pull up a programming language I press C# If I want to turn on the coffee maker I play the note sequence C-A-F-F. If I want to turn on the bedroom sex lights I play an Fminor chord. If I want to raise the heat on the thermostat I play a cool tune. The list goes on and on but I only need to remember the sequence to turn on the monitor and then pull-up the menu with over 500 different commands shown. One simple 88 key keyboard has replaced my single button that used to do everything until my car backed out of the garage and my toilet flushed instead of the garage door opening. My toaster burned my breakfast that day too. The programming may need a little tweaking yet but I am learning to play the piano.
