Scyto Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Michael can I ask what virtual nodes will allow us to do as a community (if anything)? For example will virtual nodes let us take data from network resources and let us flag it as 'energy' or create support for devices that you don't support directly? Or is there some other purpose to at a platform level that gives you flexibility to do more, more easily, later. I don't mind what the answer is, just want to be clear on how I set my own expectations
Michel Kohanim Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Hi Scyto, Virtual nodes allow you to incorporate network nodes into ISY (so, you might not need network resources) and then use them in programs + be able to send them applicable commands. So, in essence, yes, you can have energy monitor nodes (have to be defined by you) and then Automation Shack or some other device (such as Brultech Dashbox) can publish events into those nodes. I define a virtual node to represent a url (a mostly complete GET request to Auto remote, with a single parameter to be replaced with the level, say 1-255). I then put that node into a scene (as a responder), with an 'on' level to match the other nodes in the scene. Now, as the scene is called, Auto remote receives the messages with the on level. Bright and dim commands send the new level to the node etc etc...... Thanks, Michael.
