Guest Digger Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 I cant find this mentioned anywhere. I know I could update the ELK time for Homeseer but I replaced that with the ISY. Can the ELKs clock be updated from the ISY? Thanks
Michel Kohanim Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 Hi Digger, Apologies for tardy reply. I will have to wait for our guru ... I will let you know. With kind regards, Michel
apostolakisl Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 While on the topic of Elk and time. Does anybody know if any of the Elk firmware updates have fixed the crazy DST issue with Elk. Mine correctly changed the time, then a few days later changed it again to an hour off the other direction, then it changed it again a few days later to the correct time again. I really don't feel like doing a firmware update on it unless that is fixed since I don't have any issues aside from that. And I am pretty sure that there is no way for ISY to set time on the Elk.

Can the ELKs clock be updated from the ISY? Thanks Hi Digger, Just confirming the response from apostolakisl, we don't currently support updating the date/time in Elk.
Guest Digger Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Thanks everyone. I see the same problems with the ELK time and that is why I asked if there was a way to set the time from the ISY. Homeseer has that function but I shut it down. Hate to run HS just for that but maybe someday they will have something I want to use that ISY does not have.

Guest Digger Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Last i checked around May or so the latest at the time. Its been a constant problem with keeping the time correct. I think its the only problem i remember seeing in the almost 10 years I have the system installed. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
apostolakisl Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 I don't get it. It actually does the correct thing for a few days, then screws it up for a week or two, then corrects it back to the proper time . . . until the next DST change. Why they can't figure out how to fix this is beyond me, it has to be one of the more simple parts of the firmware. Probably I should just turn the DST function off and manually change the time.
Xathros Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 There was a change made to the timing of DST some years back. I wonder if there is conflicting code that references the old schedule and conflicts with the newer DST schedule. Here is my citation: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/05/technology/05daylight.html?_r=0 -Xathros

But it just doesn't seem like that should be such a challenge to make correct in the code. It makes the change in time correctly at 2am on the correct day. Then later it screws it up. Perhaps it gets messed up when it queries the ntp time server during the period of time between old DST and new DST.
Xathros Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 I agree that it should not take 7+ years to correct! -Xathros
deirwin Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 It's still a problem. Kind of ridiculous and shows the level of commitment and current is low. Also, same voice files for years, which could be another easy thing to update and please the growing consumer base in home automation.

Others running this version report the same success. Elk has 2 newer versions, but both have bugs that cause your system to randomly reboot. Elk says the latest version fixes that problem, but it does not. I'm not sure everyone has the issue, but lots of people do, including me.
