Zwave Backup versus ISY Backup

Does a ISY Backup / Restore include the Zwave Dongle ??

My former life on a Vera 3 required you to do a Zwave Backup prior to the Vera backup to get a "Complete Baclup"

Second question

IN my Vera days  I had a "Spare" backup of the vera that I had restored on the "backup Vera"

If I had issues, I just unplugged main Vera and Plugged in Backup Vera. Can this be done with an ISY ??

I can't speak to the Z-Wave portion as I don't have one. But if you have a 2413S PLM fail all you need to do is plug in the new PLM and select restore PLM.

Following the Wiki in doing so of course . . .

Hi bgrubb1,

ISY backup doesn't backup the Z-WAVE dongle. You need to backup the Z-WAVE dongle as well.

Yes you can restore a backup on a different isy and everything will be back to normal.

The ISY backup does NOT include Z-Wave devices. The ISY backup is for Insteon devices only. The Z-Wave backup is for Z-wave device only.

Hi Barry,

Z-Wave backup is stored in ISY so that when you backup your ISY, it's included in it. And, if you need to restore, you simply go to Z-Wave | Tools | Restore.

Hi Barry,

You restore ISY backup first then you do Z-Wave / Tools / Restore.

With kind regards,

Michel

Hi Michel,

To further clarify; You must perform a Z-Wave backup every time a Z-Wave device is added/changed on your network, then follow it by an ISY backup. Is that a correct statement?

Thanks,

~Mike
