MWareman Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 My Nexus 7 died the other day - so I'm on a new device. With this came the death of the older version of Tapatalk that I was desperately holding onto for reliability reasons. Now - only the newest Tapatalk is available. On this forum - it cannot get 'Unread' items. I posted a question over at the Tapatalk forum, and the answer I got was: The Tapatalk plugin for this forum is old and cannot communicate reliably with the latest TT app. Please advise the Forum Owner to update their plugin: http://tapatalk.com/activate_tapatalk.php Is it possible to look into this? Thanks, Michael.
Teken Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 I too hung on to the previous version of TT because it just worked. After a iOS failure I had to re-image my iPhone using the latest TT application. Its safe to say I have been one of the most active members calling out problems with the TT application etc. But the last release seems to work much better and I have no problems with *Unread* items tab. What exactly is the issue? Its not current or its not accurate? I know from experience this stupid widget has to be pulled down to force a refresh. Otherwise what ever was the last unread list is whats presented to the end user. That is a really stupid method to use IMO . . .
Xathros Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 I too am using the latest TT for iOS without any issues. I don't see why a back end plugin issue would only affect the Android version of TT. -Xathros
Jimbo.Automates Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 I am using this one https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quoord.tapatalkpro.activity on my Nexus 5 and 7, and it works great. The latest release looks nice too. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
larryllix Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 I too am receiving TT spam on my Android after attempting to use it for a few nights. They can't make me buy an iOS device no matter how many emails they send me about Apple forums.
paulbates Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Works for me on android as well. The newest interface from the last few months has taken some getting used to, and sometimes I miss the old one. There was forum config issue here a while back, but it was addressed. Paul
Teken Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 TT just moments ago released a new update for iOS it's version 3.8. Who wants to be the brave soul and try it out? Take one for the team I say! ️ Ideals are peaceful - History is violent
Teken Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 No issues with TT 3.8 on iOS here What a brave man thank you!
elvisimprsntr Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Version 4.13.4 is fantastic on Android.Took that many more releases to get it working correctly on android? Good to know. Thanks.
Michel Kohanim Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 Hi Michael, I will take a look. I just hope upgrading the plugin doesn't cause problems for others. With kind regards, Michel
G W Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 My Nexus 7 died the other day - so I'm on a new device. With this came the death of the older version of Tapatalk that I was desperately holding onto for reliability reasons. Now - only the newest Tapatalk is available. On this forum - it cannot get 'Unread' items. Michael. Michael, I get unread items everytime I come here. Which version are you using? Gary
MWareman Posted May 8, 2015 Author Posted May 8, 2015 The Tapatalk folks told me this was an issue specific to Android. I also confirm it's only on Android I see this, not IOS. Here is the app screenshot freshly refreshed. Over on the subscribed tab, there are unread items: It's 4.13.4. @Gary Funk, your screenshot looks like the older version was trying to hold onto...
MWareman Posted May 8, 2015 Author Posted May 8, 2015 Strange. If I (on the participated tan) select 'Show only unread', then the 'Unread' tab shows empty after a refresh. If I select 'Show All' on the 'Participated' tab then unread items show up correctly on the 'Unread' tab. I'm beginning to think it's not the forum plugin version, but a client bug.
Michel Kohanim Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 Thanks Michael. I will hold off as I do not have a good experience upgrading this plugin. With kind regards, Michel
MWareman Posted May 8, 2015 Author Posted May 8, 2015 No problem. The message I got back from the mood of Tapatalk was that they wouldn't be able to look into this until the forum updated the plugin. Oh well, I can live with the workaround. Michael.
