lotsofdevs Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 I am having a hard time getting my new ISY994i ZW PRO all set up. I am on the latest firmware. One of my problems is that I have move the primary controller to a minimote (mostly to add more distance devices), but then I am unable to "learn" the changes back. Here is what I am doing: in ISY: select Z-Wave => Receive (Learn Mode) A dialog pops up notifying me that the system is not in Z-Wave Learn Mode (Listening in Z-Wave Learn Mode) Next, I press the include and remove buttons on the minimote until both lights blink. But as soon as I let go, the lights stop blinking. If I pretty both buttons longer, then the lights (after blinking) stay both on, and after a second or so, only the red light stays on and it turns off after approx. 2 seconds (indicating failure?) . Nothing happens in the ISY console. I am about 3-6 feet from the ISY. The ISY is under my desk and I am sitting at my desk.
Michel Kohanim Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 Hi lotsofdevs, Are you certain that there's a network in your mini-mote? What does this mean? "A dialog pops up notifying me that the system is not in Z-Wave Learn Mode (Listening in Z-Wave Learn Mode)" ... With kind regards, Michel
lotsofdevs Posted June 30, 2015 Author Posted June 30, 2015 sorry... typo... remove "not". ... not sure how that got here. Anyway. I now started from scratch (still figuring out the ISY device). Will see what happens next time I try this.
asbril Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 This is what I get repeatedly when trying to add the mini mote : Sat 09/10/2016 06:26:06 PM : Listening for Z-Wave devices to add to the network Sat 09/10/2016 06:26:11 PM : Z-Wave device detected, retrieving info 2 Sat 09/10/2016 06:26:13 PM : Z-Wave device detected, retrieving info 4 Sat 09/10/2016 06:26:27 PM : Adding Z-Wave devices stopped Sat 09/10/2016 06:26:27 PM : Z-Wave device detected, retrieving info 7 Can anyone give me advise on what to do ?
Michel Kohanim Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 Hi asbril, You are on 5.0.4, correct? With kind regards, Michel

Chris Jahn Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 Sat 09/10/2016 06:26:27 PM : Z-Wave device detected, retrieving info 7 The return code '7' as show above indicates that the Z-Wave layer could not add the device to the network. This problem usually occurs if there are communication errors between the two devices. I would try recharging the battery in the minimote, exclude it from ISY, factory reset the minimote, and then try adding it again.

Chris Jahn Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Hi Asbril, You can add the minimote as a controller to your Z-Wave network, but there is a bug with the automatic associations we make so the buttons will likely not work until that is fixed.
DroidCo Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Is this bug such that I can't use the minimote to control an X-10 device? All I need is several X-10 devices to be controlled by Z-wave remotes like this minimoote and the GE Wireless keypad Controller.

Thanks Chris. I will just wait for the mythical 5.05 that apparently will be the solution for all our troubles. Maybe it even resolves Miami traffic and the meaning of life ! Just kidding.... we know you guys are working hard (and we appreciate) but we are all anxious !
DroidCo Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Hate to sound pitiful, but is there anything I can control with these z-wave remotes? Is there an older FW version that might give me any basic control? I can't use the x-10 buttons I already have and I am not going to spend any money on that Insteon junk.

"Insteon junk" could be very insulting to many of us here. After reading the woes of other protocols for about two years, I find the Insteon devices much better quality, and more reliable than most. Please tell me it was a generalised term like "Insteon stuff", used loosely, or why you would have such a negative idea of the Insteon quality.

This minimote device does not use the standard Z-Wave mechanisms for managing scenes, but instead uses command parameters extensively for this purpose. We may have some scene/button support for them in 5.0.5, but if not, it will definitely appear a build or two after that.

Sorry, just tired of wasting time trying to get the PLM 2413S to receive x-10 codes. I have already tried 4 PLMs and none have worked. The last one confirmed it is not the ISY because I get some reception, but most codes are dropped. My x-10 devices are working fine. Since I have a substantial investment in x-10 equipment (no Insteon), I need x-10 to work or I will have to dump the ISY setup.
larryllix Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Ahhhh. ..understand now. Should have been X10 junk
DroidCo Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Well actually x-10 from SmartHome. Do I have any alternatives for x-10 support?
MWareman Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 X10 is extremely old, and died many years ago as far as support is concerned.
Michel Kohanim Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Hi DroidCo, Based on what you've outlined and the email I sent you from our contact at SmartHome, I think your X10 devices might actually be sending a variation of X10 protocol which the PLM dies not understand. If you send a command (say on or off) to any of your X10 devices, do they respond appropriately? With kind regards, Michel
