Red Baron Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 I apparently had a power event during an absence and my 994 hasn't worked since. PLM seems ok, with a green LED, and ISY seems ok with power and Rx blue lights. Firmware is 4.2.30 (latest). The admin console shows my installed Insteon devices. I am unable to control or read the status of the devices. I cannot read status of PLM; get error message that says "cannot connect" in various forms. Tried to restore PLM; error message "failed reset PLM, -200000/-30" and "could not open config file, [/config/insteng.opt]". There is no programming showing in the admin console under "programs". I am unable to restore a backup of my programming either. I'm at a loss how to proceed from here. What's wrong? Any ideas?
Michel Kohanim Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Hi Red Baron, Please do NOT do Restore Modem or Delete Modem. If you go to Tools | Diagnostics | PLM Info/Status and it shows disconnected, then I suspect your PLM is dead. You might want to plug it into another outlet, reboot ISY, and retry the same menu and make sure you get "Connected". With kind regards, Michel
Michel Kohanim Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Hi Red Baron, The LED is pretty much meaningless. What you need to do is to reboot ISY, log back into the Admin Console and make sure you do NOT get a Safe Mode warning dialog OR that Tools | Diagnostics | PLM Info/Status shows "Connected/xx.yy.zz" where xx.yy.zz is the PLM address. With kind regards, Michel
Red Baron Posted August 30, 2015 Author Posted August 30, 2015 PLM shows "not connected". Is that the same as safe mode?
Michel Kohanim Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Hi Red Baron, Unfortunately yes. You do need a new PLM and once you get the unit, please follow the instructions in the link below STEP BY STEP: http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:File_Menu#Replace_Modem_.28PLM.29 With kind regards, Michel
Red Baron Posted September 10, 2015 Author Posted September 10, 2015 I received my new PLM today. Things are (almost) back to normal. I have an URTII device which communicates with my Somfy window shades which has the "1011" code displayed. I tried ensuring the device was in the program mode, right clicked/ Write pending updates. It appears the device is being written to, but the ISY still can't communicate with it. Any ideas? Btw, it also appears I have a dead relay on my garage door as well... "!" is displayed next to that device. Am I correct?
LeeG Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Run Tools | Diagnostics | Event Viewer at LEVEL 3. I don't know what a URTII is? Unless it is a battery powered device no need to put it into linking mode. Simply right click and select Write Updates to Device. Copy event trace to clipboard and post. The I/O Linc Relay can be queried while event viewer is active and post that trace as swell.
stusviews Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Red Baron, How are you connecting the Somfy Universal RTS Interface II to the ISY?

stusviews Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 The Somfy URTS II device is not a powerline device. The URTS II device communicates using a RS232 or RS485 serial port. There's also an IR sensor input.
Red Baron Posted September 11, 2015 Author Posted September 11, 2015 My bad... I should have said via a Somfy bridge unit from Smarthome!
Red Baron Posted September 11, 2015 Author Posted September 11, 2015 The bridge is an older unit which I don't think Smarthome sells anymore...
LeeG Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 The new PLM was not installed following the correct procedure. The PLM address is zeros (000000). Red Baron Posted September 11, 2015 Author Posted September 11, 2015 No. I flowed the Replace Modem instructions to the letter. "followed"
Red Baron Posted September 11, 2015 Author Posted September 11, 2015 After the "Replace Modem" I can see and control all my devices except the URTSI II. As an aside there is no LED light lit on the bridge modem. Maybe it's bad too?
stusviews Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 (edited) The bridge is an older unit which I don't think Smarthome sells anymore... Do you mean the Somfy Dry Contact Interface (Catalog 6300454)? If so, then that is wired to an I/O Linc. If not, then what is the model of the Somfy device? I just read your last post. Is your device a URTSI II or not? The Universal Radio Transmitter Somfy Interface (ver II) has part no. 1810872. It's entirely different that the Somfy Dry Contact Interface and different yet from the Universal Receiver RTS. Edited September 11, 2015 by stusviews
Red Baron Posted September 11, 2015 Author Posted September 11, 2015 Yes, it's an URSTI II. I am not using the dry contact interfaces. I purchased a bridge to interface the ISY with the URTSI that had been programmed by a guy on the Smarthome forum who went by paceyben. At this point, I'm thinking that old Smarthome bridge may have gone south too....
stusviews Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 pacyben's Insteon to Somfy bridge is an interface between the an Insteon controller, such as the ISY and the Somfy URTSI. You cannot access the Somfy interface directly, but you do need to add each channel to pacyben's bridge manually first..How are you sending Insteon direct commands (in Hex) to the bridge? BTW, Smarthome never sold the bridge.
Red Baron Posted September 11, 2015 Author Posted September 11, 2015 Yes, I know. That was all done previously and worked just fine for a couple of years. As you can tell from the OP, I had a power issue which I believe caused multiple problems in my system; not the least of which was the failure of my (coincidently I'm sure!) 2 year old PLM. Now that is restored, I'm not seeing the bridge unit that interfaces between the URTSI and the ISY. I have just noticed that there is no LED on with it either, so I'm thinking the issue is that it has failed too (as I think is the issue with my garage door relay interface too). So I think I'm down to hoping that paceyben is still around and can pass on the programming for a new interface bridge. I did see where Somfy has just come out with an interface unit that enables control via WiFi/ internet from a smart device like an iPhone. But I want the ISY control.
Red Baron Posted September 11, 2015 Author Posted September 11, 2015 You know it's funny... >>Smart home never sold the bridge<<, but it has Smarthome's name on it. Go figure!
stusviews Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 (edited) No LED is a common indication that the device is defective. pacyben's Insteon to Somfy bridge is based on an older Smarthome PLM that's no longer available, so there won't be any updates. Edit: The Autelis Shade Control for Somfy RTS interfaces between the Somfy URTSI and the ISY. A Network Module is required for the ISY. Edited September 11, 2015 by stusviews
Red Baron Posted September 11, 2015 Author Posted September 11, 2015 I've emailed him to see if he has come up with anything else. Have seen anything on the forum so I'm not hopeful. I'd like to see if the new bridge that Smarthome sells can be programmed to control the URTSI...
