This is the latest news from Brultech vis-a-vis Ethernet enabled meters: We should have some EtherBee adaptors ready in a couple of days, however, our shipment of wall transformers to power these will not be in until mid Jan. I have read and re-read the Brultech web site and would like to better understand what information the ISY will be able to process and what type impact it will have in the program decision IF / THEN decision trees. Also, what would be the ultimate package to order from Brultech to maximize my integration with the ISY. Current utilization 3. Current voltage 4. Current current You can use all the above in your programs. Being able to measure each of your devices will be very expensive using Brultech. For that, I believe, you should wait for the SEP (Smart Energy Profile) version of many devices. I am not sure if INSTEON/SmartLabs is doing anything with SEP (actually, I doubt it). You need the either one of the following products: http://www.brultech.com/HomeEnergy/Status.html The EtherBee model allows you to have the meter away from a router or ISY. The EhterPort model requires you to have the meter close to a router. bpwwer Posted April 15, 2009 Share Posted April 15, 2009 This is currently an unsupported option, but the ECMServer software that's available on the BrulTech site, will allow an ECM-1220's or RS232 only ECM-1240's data to be visible on the network. The ISY energy module can connect to ECMServer and receive the same data stream it would get from an EtherPort. Of course, this requires a computer to be running 24x7 connected to the energy monitor. arw01 Posted January 4, 2013 Share Posted January 4, 2013 Does the EP1 convert other ethernet to zigbee, or just for the Brultech. I did not purchase the 994iZ, I went with the plain unit thinking of putting the optional module in it if I wanted Zigbee (since found out most items do not interoperate with it) Therefore I will probably put a z-wave controller in it someday. I want to know how much power my hot water heater uses. I made a calculated gas vs. electricity payoff a few years back. arw01 Posted January 5, 2013 Share Posted January 5, 2013 Michel: If you were going to buy any of the energy monitors for use with the ISY, which has the best support for you and the most likely to get the most support in the isy? Not sure what I will do with it besides figure out some leakage and how much the clothes dryer and the hot water heater cost me at this time. But I imagined being able to turn on a light or flash a light when the dyer gets done, things like that. or maybe put a heat and humidity sensing 1-wire into the vent and tell more accurately when the dryer is done and maybe turn it off with a 240 insteon device. My recommendation is to decide which is more important to you: door locks or energy monitors. If door locks, then you will have to go a with our ZWave solution and thus you choice are limited to ZWave energy monitors (Aeon labs has some). I have an ISY994i is there an upgrade to Zigbee? If so what is the P/n and where do I buy. Once I buy the upgrade what model ISY am I now equivalent to ISY994iZ? Question 2. Some links above do not work.. So what Brultech models work? On the site it refers to wifi and Ethernet and also refers to zigbee (but not an option) which I assume is not one of the 2. I have a 994 going in soon (after being a long time user of the 99i) and one enhancement I look forward to making is the installation of a GEM. It may be a couple of months or so before actual install given competing priorities, but this is an area of great interest for me.
