LG TV

I’d like to be able to control a LG TV using my ISY.  Turn on/off, open Netflix app on TV, etc.  Is this possible?  If so, I presume it’s done via REST commands?  Could someone point me in the right direction to figuring this out/describing what can be done (if anything)?  I’ve got a LG Smart TV model 55LB7200.  I currently have it hardwired into my network and wireless turned off.

Are there any API specs for your TV?

I don't know.  I've found this: http://developer.lgappstv.com/TV_HELP/index.jsp?topic=%2Flge.tvsdk.developing.book%2Fhtml%2FAPI%2FAPI%2FWeb+API+Overview.htm

I'm not good enough to understand if that's even the right thing.  I've been able to figure out basic things with the network module such as how to control my Sonos system with my ISY but I'm not advanced enough to figure it out myself.  I need a working example I can tweak to for my uses.

Any help would be great, thanks!

Hi zerop,

I took a quick look and the only thing available is JavaScript APIs. It's very hard to decipher what's being done behind the scenes. I am so sorry.

With kind regards,

Michel

Thanks you so much for looking into this for me.  Appreciate it.  Oh well, onto the next idea.

Too bad this didn't work. I always wanted to control my tv so that whenever someone rang my doorbell, my tv would automatically switch to another input to view the camera at the front door.

This sounded like a promising way to do it. Maybe there is another way.

Why not get something like the Harmony Hub via a IR blaster to do this? You should be able to easy enough.
