polo2883 Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Is there any wiki or a guide on how to use this? I got it linked up but the readings I am getting from my ISY-994i show that status as 2xx%.
io_guy Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 There's a howto pinned to the top of the forum. What module are you using? What do you mean by 2xx% (post a screenshot) Post a NodeLink log.
polo2883 Posted January 7, 2016 Author Posted January 7, 2016 I guess I dont see how I can manually turn on the heat or cooling. I cant seem to attach any pics.
io_guy Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 You gotta give me more man. No log, no pics, no info. I can't help ya.
larryllix Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 I guess I dont see how I can manually turn on the heat or cooling. I cant seem to attach any pics. Use the advanced forum editor (look for "more reply options" after clicking in the post text box) to upload pics. Click your cursor to where you want it and click "attach". You will see a file name appear there Two parts. One has to be installed into your RPi. One has to be installed on your PC and then Uploaded from the Node Server menu in ISY Admin Console. Read the instructions as io_guy said and get the jist of it then ask questions for help..
polo2883 Posted January 7, 2016 Author Posted January 7, 2016 Here is a picture from my ISY admin portal
io_guy Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 That's just the My Lighting overview. What shows up when you go into the device itself? What's the verbose NodeLink log look like?
io_guy Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Have you installed the zip file per the howto instructions?
polo2883 Posted January 7, 2016 Author Posted January 7, 2016 Yup I installed it correctly. Let me do it again.
polo2883 Posted January 7, 2016 Author Posted January 7, 2016 dont know what happened before. but not it looks better
Toddimus Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 I have found that it sometimes takes a reboot of the RPi as well as the ISY, even when upgrading to a new version of NodeLink. That's after you have uploaded the nodesetup.zip (don't unzip it!). Clicking on the "Install ISY Node" button on the NodeLink web interface before and after rebooting seemed to help too. I'm pretty sure this is harmless to do at any time. Initial install is pretty straightforward, but I get mixed up when upgrading Nodelink. Sometimes things don't populate right away but with some belly rubbing, head patting and the steps outlined above, it does work.
polo2883 Posted January 7, 2016 Author Posted January 7, 2016 I know I rebooted a couple of times but maybe it was out of order. Who knows. Its working now and I am happy.
Toddimus Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 As a follow-up... I was reading another thread about Polyglot and getting node servers to work with the ISY and saw these steps in a post by rmk1139: "... I have found, however, that when adding the Node Server to the ISY: 1. the Node Server should be created and the profile uploaded. 2. The ISY should be restarted. 3. The Node Server profile should be uploaded again. 4. The ISY should be restarted again. Without doing this, it seems as if the profiles are not taking." This might explain why I've had to fiddle around to get the parameters/values to populate in the ISY.
paulbates Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 I've never had to reboot the pi, just click the restart button in Nodelink to restart the service. but restarting the ISY is needed

Just restarting Nodelink from its web GUI should be all that we need to do.
Scyto Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 I've never had to reboot the pi, just click the restart button in Nodelink to restart the service. but restarting the ISY is needed I had the same issue with earlier versions, I had to reboot the pi to get the uploaded zip to install. It might also be a timing issue.

I also have 2B that is running nodelink, ISYlogger and nothing else, so that could be part of it too. Paul
Toddimus Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 ...I also have 2B that is running nodelink, ISYlogger and nothing else... Paul That's exactly what I have and what I'm running. From your sig, it looks like the only difference is I'm using an Ecobee3 where you have a Venstar.

From your sig, it looks like the only difference is I'm using an Ecobee3 where you have a Venstar. The pi was a worthwhile experiment. I was able to figure out enough to do something useful and not hurt myself. I had nothing to base expectations on when starting... and having said that I'm amazed at how well it runs. It gets completely ignored except updates, and in io_guys case it does that part on its own Paul
io_guy Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 I'm still running on an original 1B with 256MB of ram. Can't justify throwing it out for a new one.
paulbates Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 I didn't really fully utilize B Plus with 2 venlinks, Isylink and Isy logger. If you are using the pi as an interface box, the 2B is like killing a fly with a grenade.

I have an older version 1B (I think) and the newest one (2B) that I bought at the SF Bay Area Maker Faire last year because... why not. Linux OS is a good thing for a geek like me to know my way around and what better way to do it than with a cheap piece of hardware that just so happens to be very useful in the HA world. I plan to use my original RPi as the brain for a personal weather station. I'm going to get some good wind speed/direction instruments and temp/pressure/humidity instruments along with a rain gauge and make a proper setup that reports to Wunderground and to use for a local webpage/database that I'll put on a screen (old iPad??) mounted to the wall somewhere in the house. Lest I digress...
paulbates Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 I've used the b+ as a dev box for testing new configs, but not much going there, so thinking about a limited ws for it as well
m_later Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 I'm trying to add a node of Ecobee and it appears to add, but when I click on it's name in the UI and it navigates to /ecobee.htm I get this:HTTP/1.0 404 Not Found Connection: close ?????
