josephalfassi Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Hi, I just bought the ISY to start migrating from my HouseLinc, until now everything is perfect, I migrate 60+ devices, made the scenes and programs, everything is working. But I have a small problem that I cannot figure out, I am from São Paulo/Brazil and as São Paulo is not available in the list I opted to Custom Location, which got all the corrects parameters, but when I click on Daylight Saving, nothing happen. So for now the clock, sunrise and sunset are 1 hour behind. I am using a NTP server from Brazil, that is also correct. How I can fix that? Daylight do not work with Custom Location? Thanks Joseph
Michel Kohanim Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Hi Joseph, Please upgrade to 4.4.2 (http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/17732-release-442-beta-is-now-available/) and make sure you have 4.4.2 UI (Help | About). Once there, click on Change Location, choose the closest city to São Polo, and then enter the appropriate latitude and longitude. Please make sure DST Rule is set for Brazil. With kind regards, Michel
Broyd Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 (edited) Hi Michel, I have a question about how a persons DST rule and his physical location (sunrise/sunset) interact. I am guessing that you use a close by city to determine what DST rule is used for that area AND that you then allow the user to set the appropriate longitude and latitude, which is then used to calculate the sunrise and sunset times. Is this thinking correct? A weird exception ... ? The South East corner of British Columbia, Canada includes the city of Creston. I live about 100 miles from that city. They use a special time zone rule. They MOVE the time zone boundary about 60 miles east and west of Creston twice each year such that the time the residents experience never changes as the rest of British Columbia and Alberta switch back and forth between standard time and daylight savings time. Is it possible to automatically accommodate this situation? Edited January 11, 2016 by Broyd
Michel Kohanim Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Hi Broyd, That's correct. Basically, the DST Rules defines when DST should be applied and unapplied. There's also a rule of NONE which means that no DST rules are applied. From what you are explaining, it seems that Crestron does not observe any DST. i.e. the time never changes. Is that correct? If not, then we will have to make a new rule just for Crestron. With kind regards, Michel
Broyd Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 (edited) Hi Michel, You are correct. Creston remains on Mountain Standard Time all year long. They DO NOT observe Daylight Savings time. So how would you set this up for Creston on the admin panel page? I haven't loaded that new beta yet so I haven't seen how that page works . Do you have the ability to select a specific time zone by picking a city (Calgary, Alberta) AND then select NONE for DST, AND then still enter a longitude and latitude so that your sunrise and sunset times are accurate? Thanks! This was one of the reasons I haven't switched to the new beta. I live in the center of The Pacific Time Zone almost directly north of Spokane Washington. I would pick Vancouver BC to set the timezone but then my sunrise and sunset times would be off by about half an hour each. So if I can pick Vancouver and then set the longitude and latitude, I would be very happy with that setup. Edited January 11, 2016 by Broyd
Michel Kohanim Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Hi Broyd, If you have 4.4.2, when you click on Change Location, in the DST Rule drop down choose "None". In 4.3.26 (and below), simply uncheck Day Light Saving checkbox. With kind regards, Michel
stusviews Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 The nearest city is not always the best choice. If you live in Alabama, for example, the nearest city may be in Georgia. But Alabama and Georgia are in different time zones. So, you would need to choose the nearest city in the same time zone.
josephalfassi Posted January 12, 2016 Author Posted January 12, 2016 Michel, Thanks for the quick reply ! As I saw the version 4.4.2 is still beta, should I have any problems or should wait for the final version? Best regards Joseph
Michel Kohanim Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Hi Joseph, You should not have any problems. This said, please do be kind enough to test DST Rules for Brazil and let us know if you have any issues. With kind regards, Michel
josephalfassi Posted January 12, 2016 Author Posted January 12, 2016 Perfect, thanks. I am not finding: Help | Automatically Upgrade [the name of your system] Or I should do it manually? Regards Joseph
LeeG Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 (edited) The update to 4.4.2 ISY Firmware and 4.4.2 Admin Console is done manually. The automatic update is to move to the latest Official ISY Firmware which is 4.3.26 that you are already on. Edited January 12, 2016 by LeeG
Michel Kohanim Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Hi Joseph, LeeG as always is correct. Here's the link to 4.4.2: http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/17732-release-442-beta-is-now-available/ With kind regards, Michel
josephalfassi Posted January 12, 2016 Author Posted January 12, 2016 Michel, now is working great ! DST is correct and working for Brazil ! If possible in the final version you should add Sao Paulo as one of the cities, once that Sao Paulo is the biggest city of Brazil. Thanks ! And Best Regards Joseph
Michel Kohanim Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Hi Joseph, Thanks so very much for the update. Yes, we can include Sao Paulo in the list. Consider it done. With kind regards, Michel
Broyd Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Hi Michel, I like the format you have set up for handling the Time Zone selections and DST. Well done! The rule I use is "North America-Canada". Should this not say "United States-Canada"? I think Mexico is part of North America ... but United States is not all of North America ... One other item. I am using a 1280X1024 pixel screen and use the default font size of 12. When I press the Change Location button, only the Latitude (Lat) is displayed. The width of the Change Location panel appears to be 780 pixels; to display the Longitude (Long) on that panel as well, that panel width needs to be increased to at least 785 pixels. Also the red X in the upper right corner of that panel does not work; you have to press the 'Cancel' or 'OK' button to close the panel.
Michel Kohanim Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Hi Broyd, Thank you. It's now changed to US-Canada. We'll take a look at the screen size issue. With kind regards, Michel
