Trying to setup ISY with Amazon Echo

Hi-

I'm trying to setup my new Amazon Echo with my ISY controller. I have updated my ISY994/IR Pro to 4.3.26 for the firmware and 4.1.1 for the UI.

I went to the ISY portal, and added my ISY with the address from the ISY994 about page. This page lists my ISY, but the indicator icon is yellow, stating that it is pending approval? I went to my profile in the ISY website, and linked my amazon account to the ISY.

When I login to the amazon alexa webpage, and try to discover devices, Alexa comes back and states that it can't find any devices. I can access my ISY994 via the internet, so I'm pretty sure that part is working. I've already purchased the portal integration module, so I'm not sure what I'm missing at this point.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Your firmware and UI need to be the same version.

Okay....Do you know how I would go about fixing that? I logged into the ISY, and it said that there was the update to 4.3.26 available, so I installed that. Not sure how they got out of sync in the first place.

First, clear your Java Cache then download the application (will put icon on desktop) or the Java Applet that you run from the browser.  Full instructions for 4.3.26 is found here...

Jon....note to self....check the wiki.

Thanks for the hand holding. I got things working. It will take some getting used to, and it has proven to be a little frustrating trying to get Alexa to have Izzy turn on/off lights. I was able to add a few devices, and it seemed to work. I tried some scenes as well as programs, but didn't have any luck. I'll try again tomorrow, and do some more research between now and then. Thanks again for your patience.

I believe the instructions were just recently added and it makes it much easier for everyone seeing that they look complete.  Glad you had some luck...

With Connected Home, you no longer need to tell Alexa to as Izzy to do something (except for a few tasks). Just ask Alexa to turn a (spoken_name) scene or device on or off. If the (spoken-name) is a device, then you can also dim or brighten using an oral command, for example, "Alexa, set the (spoken_name) to 80%."

That's what's missing from the Wiki... how to operate the dang thing :)

I actually figured this out on accident....I got tired of telling Alexa to tell Izzy to do something....so I just tried to tell Alexa to turn on the family room lights, and it worked.

Exactly....but I guess that's because there are so many different ways to get to the end goal.....turning on a light!

That isn't exactly true but it is confusing if not clearly defined which is why I'd like to see it added to the Wiki.

Not really....I can turn on a light by using turning on the hardware, or turn it on if it is in a scene, or turn it on if I write a program....in the end, the light gets turned on.

I see :)  I thought you were referring to methods used by the skill and/or connected home...

Connected Home is still beta. The skill is released.

I'm sure instructions for the connected home will be published outside of the beta thread once it's no longer beta.

That may be it but the Wiki includes instructions to setup connected home without mention of beta.

True enough - but the step that says 'Click this link' after 'Login to alexa.amazon.com' is Amazons way of adding a beta channel to Alexa that is not in production yet. The Wiki really should say that this is still beta IMO - certainly the forum thread does, in capital letters!
