Dinboise Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 There is a relatively new Insteon chime that I purchased. (model 2867-222) I would like to ask that it be included in the product list for the ISY. I realize UDI needs the API from Smarthome. But I figured I would start the ball rolling as it were. David

David UDI has requested the API from Smarthome. Once they receive it they'll include it in the next firmware release. Unfortunately Smarthome is slow to deliver.
Brian H Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 I was told that UDI had an evaluation Alert Module. Before they where even being sold to us. So it could be added to the ISY firmware. As mentioned Smartlabs is very slow in getting the needed information to UDI. I have had two Alert Modules just waiting for UDI to finally get the needed information.
Teken Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Are we being serious the UDI team is still waiting for Joe Dada in his team to offer the API to enroll this device?!?! Its only been two freaking months now so lets call it what it is . . . Lazy, inept, I don't care . . . There is no freaking way a company who wants their wares to be sold around the world would not provide the required documents. But then again we are talking about a company who has for 20 years offered zero feed back or even engaged the consumer. Well besides when Insteon was first being pushed out then someone said to the team *Shut Up*. I sent in a very simple request for when can we expect to see the Sonos audio keys for the KPL. You guessed it - Not a freaking soul from any department had the decency or business sense to message me back what the ETA was and the retail price! In the past I used to read rants from a member named Digger on the SH forums. For a time I thought there had to be some kind of personal thing going on with this guy and SH. Fast forward almost nine years later I am in the same place literally all the time ranting about Smartlabs! I really can't understand how senior management can be so lacking in engagement with their customer base? Its fair to say Michel and I don't always see eye to eye on some topics but he is always willing to offer some kind of feed back. It doesn't matter if I or anyone else likes it or not - Its the simple fact he has taken a personal interest to at least read, reply, and perhaps offer suggestions on how to do something or to understand XYZ is not on their road map etc. Even if Michel came on only once a month to just reply to one single thread posed. That is on a order of magnitude of 99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999X more than we have ever seen from Joe Dadda and his team since Insteon launch. The Insteon product in my mind is *overall very solid* and has much to offer the general public. But, sadly others in the other HA camps like Z-Wave, ZigBee, BLE, WiFi, are quickly taking away market share and potential sales, and repeat sales. Their only saving grace is thus far Joe Dadda and his marketing team have hit solid ground in integrating with lots of the major fad products and services. Whether that be Amazon Echo, Harmony Remote, Sonos, Apple Home Kit, First Alert One Link, etc. I suspect at some point things will hit critical mass and many of the large retailers have already dropped Insteon from their sites: Walmart, Best Buy, etc. I just don't know about this company sometimes . . .
Brian H Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Last time I read anything on the Alert Module Support. Smartlabs and Smarthome didn't even have the Alert Module supported in their Apps for the HUB's. I didn't find mine very loud when I manually linked it to a KeypadLinc or Open/Closed sensor. To trigger it. Sound can't get out of the case as there is no opening for the sound to exit the case. Loud 90dB output (at 12 inches). Is not very loud across the room.
Michel Kohanim Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Hi Guys, We are still waiting for the API docs due to be out by the end of Feb. With kind regards, Michel
Brian H Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Michel; Thank you for the update. I hope the date doesn't slip.
stevesreed Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 I'm definitely looking forward to this support. I've have the alert module for a little while now, but only recently upgraded to an ISY994iZw from a lame Insteon hub. Now there are all sorts of possibilities. (I wish I switched long ago...)The first one I want to try is to play a chime when an Omhhour alert comes in. That way everyone at home will know, even when I'm not there to tell the kids to take a brake from the video games for an hour to reduce power.
smokegrub Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Hi Guys, We are still waiting for the API docs due to be out by the end of Feb. With kind regards, Michel Have you received the API? Thanks.
theptsman Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 Just another user waiting for a status on the API - Have had the module for a month or so now and can't wait to use it.... it's not fun owning something you can't use. I have a io link hooked to a digital door bell but that is not practical. All I need is my water sensors to go off and not get a proper alert when home if I am away from my phone..... I just updated to the latest beta with hopes today but alas... Thank you
Michel Kohanim Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 Hello everyone, Not a peep. I have a call with SmartHome tomorrow and will inquire. With kind regards, Michel
Brian H Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 Michel, Thanks for the update and continued effort to get the information. Unfortunately I an not surprised that they are still stalling the data. My respect for Smarthome and Smartlabs management is greatly diminished these days. The employees can only do what management lets them do.
smokegrub Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Thanks for the update, Michel. This is Smarthome's loss. I will not purchase the product until I can enroll it in my ISYs.
Brian H Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 You may do better waiting anyway. I suspect my early firmware is not 100% good. Mine ended up in the Off mode {LED RED} and I could not make it chime from a linked test controller. Even though it responded to the command so the controller didn't flash a no response LED pattern.
stevesreed Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 I hope they make the info available soon. I ended up getting a ZWave based Aeon Labs ZW080-A17 in the mean time, but it is too loud/irritating, even on low, for my application (just to alert the kids that there is a Ohmhour/flex alert starting). The Insteon chime has a more pleasant chime for notification alerts.
paulbates Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 The "API" can't be that involved, this is still an Insteon device with Insteon messaging. I'm wondering if the "API" can be reversed engineered with a chime module, a hub and Houselinc? The chime should be defined in Houselinc. There is a coherent set of messages between a PLM/Sender and the Chime for the different settings / alerts. Houselinc gives detailed logs of transactions between the Hub/PLM and the devices it talks to. Paul
larryllix Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Maybe we need to take a sample of how many Insteon devices each user, here, has. Perhaps UDI can take our sample counts and use some smarter numbers from total ISY sales to come up with a rough figure of how many Insteon devices, due to just ISY, have been sold. Perhaps SH needs that figure shoved up their butts a bit, as they (SH), may be under the impression that ISY doesn't provide them with as big of a slice of their market as ISY actually does. UDI may get a little more respect out of the effort.
