When you tell Alexa "Goodnight", she provides a few different responses. The software recognizes that phrase and is acting on it.  The same is true for "Good Morning", "Hello", "I'm Home", "Goodbye" and "I'm Leaving".

It would be cool if these phrases could trigger an ISY program.  Does anyone know if this is on Amazon's roadmap?

These are reserved words that cannot be used by any connected device (unfortunately).

I will have to go that route as well.  I would just hoping to eliminate saying the words "turn on" along with the spoken phrase.

I have programs using the spoken phrase "Set Home" "Set Sleep" "Set Evening" and all I have to say is Alexa, Set Sleep On or Alexa, Set Home Off

I have a (Maker channel) skill defined as 'Goodnight' - calling my 'Goodnight' program (via the portal integration).

 

'Alexa, trigger goodnight' works every time. It's pretty much my only skill in common use.

Alexa, turn on good night has been working for me since the beginning.  Maybe use two words?

I think the OP wanted a hook into the predefined exchange with Alexa.  Amazon would have to allow an option to append CoHo calls to the canned interactions, which seems like a pretty good idea, really.

This is exactly what I was thinking.  It would be cool if Alexa executed an action in addition to her canned responses.  Maybe someday...
