Connected Home API + Thermostats

any news on when ISY will support thermostats via the connected home integration?

The Izzy skill can control Insteon thermostats. I don't have any others to test with.

I'm familiar with the Izzy Skill, but I was specifically referring to connected home, aka, not having to use the skill

ISY controls both my Insteon thermostats natively and my Venstar thermostats with an RPI and Nodelink.

I don't need to use anything else so whatever controls ISY can control those.

Not using anything else usually implies the ISY and Echo plus the required portal.

Yeah, I am guilty of not reading the thread subject header.. Disregard my previous post.

woohoo!

now here's another question, how would a Thermostat connected to an ELK system work with this new integration? Assuming the elk module is in place and the ISY can fully communicate with the ELK M1XEP?

cyberk,

At the moment, and unfortunately so, it would not be possible without using programs.

With kind regards,

Michel

Thanks for the clarification Michel, would zwave thermostats, linked to the ISY, work?

Any word on thermostat support for the latest version of the Smart Home Skill API? Does an app have to be submitted for approval or is this just a matter of responding to the thermostat commands in the skill adapter?

Any update on the approval of the thermostat Smart Home skill?

Hi sdcrane,

Unfortunately not. We keep getting intermittent emails that it's imminent but nothing materializes. Again, for us, we have everything tested and working with the test end point. They just have to switch the end points (of course, everyone might have rediscover devices).

With kind regards,

Hi kingwr,

Yes, the main issue is the migration from v1 and v2. Amazon is looking into the possible impacts (such as having to forget all devices and rediscover vs. a seamless migration).

With kind regards,

Michel

If they would just switch the endpoints I would be glad to tell them what the impact is. :)

Hi kingwr

The main issue is that we may get hid with 1000s of support calls! Will you handle those too?

Would it be possible to upload the new ISY Skill with the 2.0 SmartHome API as a new, separate product? I could just delete the old Skill and add the new one? Since they are free and easy to configure, this would avoid any support calls.

Hello kingwr,

We have been going back and forth on this with Amazon. In short, what's going to happen (once we are certified for V2), existing users can continue using V1 but new users can NOT find the V1 app. They will only find V2. V1 users MUST unlink V1, link V2, and the rediscover. Quite convoluted and not optimal but that's where it is right now.

With kind regards,

Michel

Sorry - didn't read the last post. I will signup.
