xlurkr Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 I am migrating my z-wave network from a Vera 3 to my ISY. I can't seem to add a GE Jasco 45605 outlet to the network. It removed just fine, several times in fact, but when I try to add it the ISY waits forever no matter how many times I push the button on the outlet. I never had a problem getting it to work with the Vera. I'm less than 10 feet away from the ISY. Also, it's in a 2 gang portable junction box (my test rig) next to an Intermatic z-wave outlet module. That one removed and added on the first try, and turns on and off instantly, so I doubt I'm having any transmission problems. I remember reading something Michel wrote about some of the GE Jasco devices acting this way. Are there any tricks to getting them to enroll? Are there any diagnostics I can send you to assist in diagnosing the problem? -Tom
Guitartexan01 Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Hello Tom. I just wanted to say bravo for coming over to isy. You will not regret it. I wish I had some info about Jasco devices, but I use all Enerwave devices. No worries though. I guarantee someone will be along soon with some assistance for you. Hang in there. GT
danbutter Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 I have a ge outlet and had no issues getting it to show up. Did you try to reboot the ISY? I find quite a few things work only after a reboot, but then again I'm running beta software so I can't complain.
xlurkr Posted May 26, 2016 Author Posted May 26, 2016 Since first posting I have rebooted the ISY and factor reset the Z-Wave dongle several times. The behavior of the Intermatic outlet is still the same. The GE outlet can be excluded, and when I attempt to include it by pushing the button on the outlet it now says it is retrieving info 2, then the dialog goes away, but no new device appears in the device tree. Progress? Maybe, but not enough. -Tom
xlurkr Posted May 26, 2016 Author Posted May 26, 2016 I'm running beta software so I can't complain. Are you on 5.XX alpha? Has anyone been able to get one to work on 4.4.6? -Tom
danbutter Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Yes 5.0.2. I didn't have the the outlet before I was on 5.0.2 so I cant say if it works on the 4.x.x firmware.
Michel Kohanim Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 Hi Tom, Do you know how to factory reset this switch? I have seen this behavior before and a factory reset fixed it. With kind regards, Michel
xlurkr Posted May 28, 2016 Author Posted May 28, 2016 Since my last post, I have included the outlet on the vera, operated, and excluded it. I have included it on a GE 45600 remote, operated it, and excluded it. It still won't allow itself to be included on the ISY, though it still will allow itself to be excluded. Michel, it appears there is no factory reset. The manual states that exclusion resets the device, and it's the only reset there is. I'm still offering to collect any logging information, if that can be done. I could also send you this device so you can look at it. Does no one have this working with 4.4.6? Maybe I'll have to wait until v5 is released. I might try including it on one of the controllers above and transferring the network to ISY as secondary, but long-term I want the ISY to be primary. Or maybe I'll try another outlet. I bought a lot of them when Radio Shack was clearing them out. They were cheap, and support beaming. The Intermatics, though even cheaper, do not. -Tom
Michel Kohanim Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 Hi Tom, Thanks so very much for the feedback. Quick questions: 1. Can it get excluded? 2. Is ISY primary in your network? Please note that I do have one of these here and it works fine on 4.4.6. With kind regards, Michel
xlurkr Posted May 30, 2016 Author Posted May 30, 2016 Michel: Yes to both. I'll try another one next time I go up in my attic, where they're stored. That might be a few weeks from now. I'm thinking it could just be a bad unit. I noticed it acted a little weird when I included it with the Vera last time, too. Vera has a multi-step wizard that is supposed to move automatically to the next step once it is finished including a device, and it didn't do that for the 45605. I hit cancel, and the device showed up in the list anyway. In addition to the Intermatic outlet, I was able to add a GE Jasco 45604 outdoor outlet to the ISY no problem. -Tom
Michel Kohanim Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 Hi Tom, Thank you. Please do keep us posted. With kind regards, Michel
xlurkr Posted June 19, 2016 Author Posted June 19, 2016 Good news. I got a new, unused one out of my attic, and it worked flawlessly. I wish I knew what went wrong with the other one. I'm glad I hadn't installed it in my wall. I got these for $10 when Radio Shack was closing them out. They beam, so I planned on using them to help my ISY reach my lock. I hope this was a one-off failure. -Tom
