tosterhouse Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 I changed the PLM following the correct procedure. I reverted to a ISY 994i file i saved a couple months ago Everything works except the wireless transmitters ie motion and moisture?

I reverted to a ISY 994i file i saved a couple months ago Everything works except the wireless transmitters ie motion and moisture? Battery operated devices need to be put into the linking mode in order for the new PLM info to be written into the link tables. Put only one device at a time into the linking mode then right click on the device name then click on restore device. After the device has exited the linking mode you can then update the next battery operated device. This is necessary because battery operated devices go into a sleep mode in order to prolong battery life.
tosterhouse Posted November 12, 2016 Author Posted November 12, 2016 Thank you for the reply but i have done this many times and even set the motion sensor to factory. I have 4 motion sensors and 2 moisture sensors. All wireless devices will not communicate. Could i have received a bad PLM?
tosterhouse Posted November 12, 2016 Author Posted November 12, 2016 Every minute or so the sensor just starts blinking? I have restored the isy to an earlier time when i know it was working (1 month ago) Factory reset the PLM Restored the PLM according to the rules'
larryllix Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 If you have any nearby dual-band devices they should convert the powerline signals to RF anyway, blowing the defective RF section of the PLM, theory, out the window. If not, move a dual-band plug-in into place, temporarily to try it with a few battery devices.
Techman Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Every minute or so the sensor just starts blinking? I have restored the isy to an earlier time when i know it was working (1 month ago) Factory reset the PLM Restored the PLM according to the rules' If you restored the ISY to an earlier time AFTER you installed the new PLM then the ISY will have the link tables from the previous PLM. If that's the case then you'll need to reinstall your new PLM again and then restore the battery operated devices.
tosterhouse Posted November 12, 2016 Author Posted November 12, 2016 Thank you but i already tried this and just tried again. Just to be clear the house was working fine. Could i have a bad PLM
stusviews Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 It's unlikely, but possible, that only the RF portion of the PLM is defective. Can you manually link a wireless device to a (dual-band) responder?
tosterhouse Posted November 21, 2016 Author Posted November 21, 2016 OK I seriously need help I have a new plm this did not solve the issue. The wireless sensors do not work and i have no clue how to solve this issue!! I have three of them on my desk and they just start flashing and then stop. The lights work? But not wireless? Please help
tosterhouse Posted November 21, 2016 Author Posted November 21, 2016 I just performed a factory reset on the isy and on the plm Added one switch, one motion sensor, and a program and it still does not function? Any ideas?
G W Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 I'd guess your sensors are bad. B.R.I.A.D.A. Best regards, Gary Funk
tosterhouse Posted November 21, 2016 Author Posted November 21, 2016 I have a problem believing that 7 sensors went bad at the same time?
stusviews Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Do you have any devices linked to a MS? If so, does the device respond when you tap the set button alternating between on and off with each press?
tosterhouse Posted November 21, 2016 Author Posted November 21, 2016 not sure. I do not link them directly. I add the MS to the ISY. I add the switch to the ISY. Then write a program to look for the MS and turn the switch on. Short answer. I opened a new MS. added a program to turn on a light wait 10s turn off. This worked 2 times. Pressing the button worked one time. Now this unit does not work!!!! This was easy when i purchased the unit. ------------------ Something is really strange. I was just turning on a light from within the ISY "Foyer" and it lights up but the isy shows that it is off. I can turn it on and off from the software but the status does not change in the isy software? I have a new PLM, new Motion sensors I have performed a factory reset on both the PLM and ISY. Following this i added one switch and one MS to test. And as stated in the manual this did not change or help anything. I used to love this but now i am ready to pull everything!!
oberkc Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Shot in the dark.... I had a recent time when it seemed motion sensors (all four) quit working. (No change of PLM.). Having no good ideas, I simply unplugged the PLM and waited a few seconds before plugging back in. Problem solved. Be aware that my ISY is powered via PLM, so unplugging PLM power cycled both the PLM and ISY. Maybe this is worth trying in your case.
oberkc Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Another thought is wondering if your programs may have lot the motion sensor triggers. If you open the event viewer then trigger a motion sensor, do you see the event registered? If so, this suggests that the sensors are linked just fine and that there are other issues.

paulbates Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 I think your best bet is to submit a problem ticket to UDI, have them walk through it with you https://www.universal-devices.com/contact-support/ Paul
oberkc Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Agree with Paul Bates. Best bet might be trouble ticket. Having said this, the log at least suggests to me that your motion sensor and ISY are communicating. Were you not getting these log results prior to replacing the cable? My best guess on the log result is that the three nodes (motion, darkness, battery) have just sent a status. Looks pretty typical to me.
tosterhouse Posted November 21, 2016 Author Posted November 21, 2016 I now have the new MS working. Could i really have every MS go bad at the same time? It appears i have 6 bad MS. i have a hard time believing that all 6 went bad at the same time but the new one works. and all 6 do not work. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Techman Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 I now have the new MS working. Could i really have every MS go bad at the same time? It appears i have 6 bad MS. i have a hard time believing that all 6 went bad at the same time but the new one works. and all 6 do not work. Does anyone have any suggestions? Did you try to add them to the ISY all at the same time or did only put one MS into the linking mode at a time then add it to the ISY? Only one battery operated device can be in the linking mode at any one time. It's highly unlikely that your other MS are defective
G W Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Reset the other 6 units. B.R.I.A.D.A. Best regards, Gary Funk
stusviews Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 If a factory reset doesn't work, manually link a MS to any dual-band device (just as a test). Any success?
larryllix Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 Write a program to test and prove the MS output. My admin console times out frequently every night and doesn't show status or variable updates. Just reboot the admin console and try again. Before v5.0.7 this was indicated by all the icons at the top going grey.
