belias Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 Hello, I'm in the process of setting up a new Z-Wave based system using the 994 Z-Wave module, and it's definitively a learning curve from Insteon... I've figured out most things, but this one is stumping me: I have a module (the Aeotec Nano Dimmer) that I have successfully included in the network. The module has 2 switch inputs. Apparently, it sends a notification (Basic Set CC) to Group 3 when Switch 1 is activated and a Basic Set CC notification to Group 4 when Switch 2 is activated. How can I tell these apart in the ISY? I need different programs to trigger based on which switch input is activated. Thanks. - Brian
mwester Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 You shouldn't have to mess with things at such a low level in the z-wave protocol -- that's analogous to noting that an Insteon dimmer sends a particular binary message when the paddle is depressed, and a different byte sequence when the paddle is double-tapped. Just like the ISY sorts out those different Insteon binary messages into actual commands you can use in programs, it should also be sorting out the z-wave messages into actual commands. However, doing so seems fraught with difficulty -- in particular, anything other than the simplest of z-wave devices require 5.x firmware, which is still in alpha-test. What firmware are you using on the ISY?
belias Posted August 2, 2017 Author Posted August 2, 2017 I'm using FW 4.6.2 The dimmer modules add to the network fine (they show 1 Binary Switch, 1 Multilevel Switch, and 1 Energy Meter). But there's no device that corresponds to the switch inputs. The event-viewer does show the traffic though when there's a contact closure across Switch 1 or Switch 2.
ldb Posted August 28, 2017 Posted August 28, 2017 I have seen references on z-wave devices regarding direct control using an association group. Most recently I am considering an EZMultiPli sensor. The Aeon Multisensor 6 also references this capability. I have found links to Vera, Smartthing and Homeseer controllers indicating that they support direct association settings. Will this capability be included in V5?
Michel Kohanim Posted August 28, 2017 Posted August 28, 2017 Hi ldb, Yes, for certain. With kind regards, Michel
KeviNH Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 Most recently I am considering an EZMultiPli sensor. The Aeon Multisensor 6 also references this capability. So did you ever get the Express Controls "EZMultiPli" how well does it work with ISY?
