Turn of Z-Wave Polling for specific device or all devices?

Hello,

 

I have 3 Yale Z-Wave door locks currently working with ISY.  No other Z-Wave devices, everything else is INSTEON.

 

My ISY is centrally located within the 3 locks, and I have good signal / range to the devices.

 

Simple question:

 

Is there a way to see if ISY is "polling" a Z-Wave device (or devices) on a regular basis? 

 

The reason I ask is I had one lock that was eating batteries quicker than once per month.  This door gets about the same amount of use as the other two, but it was eating batteries at a much higher rate.

 

After working with Yale, swapping Z-Wave radios, and ultimately the entire lock assembly, I ended up with the exact same results.

 

Out of frustration, I decided to replace the lock for a second time, and now the problem has moved to the middle door lock.

 

It appears as though the lock is "talking" or "waking" too much, and prematurely going through its batteries.

 

I have heard this is a 400 series issue, but I don't have much data to back that up.

 

My belief is somehow it is too "chatty" and wasting its batteries.

I would like to understand if it is being "woken up" to ask for its status, etc.? 

Of the three door locks installed, one of them has yet to have its batteries replaced, and it is running strong over a year later.  Batteries on that lock are at 86%.  This lock is located the farthest distance from the ISY.

 

The other two locks (where the problem from one lock to another) are much closer to the ISY (both about 10' away in different directions), and after replacing the batteries, I am lucky to get 3 weeks out of it.

 

I have tried adding a lighting module that was supposedly friendly to the "security class" as a repeater, but it did not improve anything.

 

I am hopeful I can simply turn "polling" off to the device, as it in theory notifies the ISY upon any status change, so I really don't need to poll anything.

 

I do have my ISY set to poll all devices at 3 AM; I remember this being an INSTEON requirement a while back.  I don't know if that is still necessary, or if that is where my problem lies, but it would not explain why the other two locks are working perfectly with acceptable battery life.

ISY does not poll anything unless it has to one case of which are Z-Wave light controllers that do not send change of status. So, when there's a signal from those switches, then ISY will query so that you have accurate status. Door locks do send change of status and thus no need for polling.
