I have been running Homeseer for over 2 years now. I purchased my ISY in November of 2008 and have slowly integrating the two systemsover the last few months. As of last week, I finished swapping out all of the X-10 units for insteon. I now have over 120 insteon units in the home. The other day, I went to the Homeseer website to update the ISY plugin to the latest version as my previous one had expired. Now, when I restart Homeseer, the start up hangs when looking for Insteon devices so Homeseer will not complete start up and does not function. To make matters worse. the ISY is frozen and I cannot Telnet it and when I unplug it to restart it, I cannot login. Should I factory Reset? I am running Version 2.7. I have posted this issue and the homeseer site and so far, Bpwwer has asked me a few rudimentary questions and I am waiting for a response to my response.

Hi Michael -

Please avoid factory resetting it if possible.

- What do the lights on the ISY look like?

- Are you able to ping the ISY?

- Are you able to browse to the ISY's HTML page?

- Are your triggers/programs saved to your ISY still functioning?

It appears to be hanging on the web services GetNodesConfig call. I have the plug-in in a loop that keeps re-trying if that command fails. I currently don't have it reporting the error, but I'll work with Michael and get him a version that does if it turns out to not be a hardware issue.

Hi Michael -

Based on Bob's comment above, if you shut down the Homeseer plug-in I assume you can reboot your ISY and everything returns to normal?

Unfortunately, No. I have tried rebooting by unplugging the PLM / Power source for 10 seconds then replugging in. I was able to get back in once, restarted homeseer again, both Homeseer and ISY hung up, and now the last two times I attempted to reboot the ISY, I have not been able to get in, ping or telnet.I have disabled the ISY plug in for Homeseer and Homeseer is starting up ok.

Anything more to try?

Just to be sure the Homeseer plug-in is not still locking us up, I would recommend shutting down that Homeseer PC, rebooting the ISY, and checking to see if you can communicate with it.

If you can't, try accessing it via the following URL:

http://www.universal-devices.com/99i

If that doesn't work, do you have a null modem cable? If so, you can try communicating with the ISY using a terminal program:

http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/ ... tart_Guide

Check the section labeled "Connecting to the ISY Shell Using the Serial Port".

Please post back with your results.

Hi Mike,

Correction, the power button AND the RX button are on solid. Even with the Homeseer PC off I could not connect. I got to the admin console using "http://www.universal-devices.com/99i " but I saw no devices or programs. I tried connecting using a null modem cable but I could not connect. Please help. I am on vacation Wednesday morning for a week and Homeseer plays a role in my security system and ISY is controlling my lights. This could not have happened at a worse time.

Thanks

Hi Michael -

Solid RX light indicates a problem communicating with your PLM. It sounds like your ISY is in safe mode. Please unplug the power to your PLM AND ISY, double-check the cable connection between the two (replace with a different cable if you have one), wait 30 seconds then plug the PLM back in.

If you still have a solid RX light, it sounds like you may have a bad PLM. Do you have another PLM you could try?

Update. I have been able to log into the ISY via the network. I unplugged the network cable, powered down and restarted. Everything seems OK. Takes a long time to boot but I guess when you have over 100 devices you have to live with it.Now the only issue is is getting home seer to discover my devices. Guess I will wait for Bob on that.

Any thing else to Add.

Thanks for the help.

Bob Provided a plug in that got the job done. Kudos to Bob. Everything seems to be communicating OK.

Will keep you informed. Thanks for the help.
