dvandorp Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 I"ve been trying to add a zwave switch to my device for a day or so. I believe I've done everything per procedure. First exclude / remove 2x than add. Ultimately the device never shows up on my device tree. At one point I had something show up but it showed as unresponsive / uninitialised. This is what the log says after one of the iterations. Mon 03/26/2018 08:03:25 PM : Listening for Z-Wave devices to add to the network Mon 03/26/2018 08:03:25 PM : [ZWAVE-RX ] [0107004A18020000]... Michel Kohanim Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 Hi dvandorp, The issue is that ISY cannot get manufacturer specific data. You might want to factory reset the device and retry. Also, if possible, try it within 10 feet. With kind regards, Michel
dvandorp Posted March 27, 2018 Author Posted March 27, 2018 Thanks for the quick reply. Before I posted I had factory reset the device 2x as well. I was about 15 feet away I'll attempt to get a little closer and try again.
dvandorp Posted March 28, 2018 Author Posted March 28, 2018 Yes it is. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
dvandorp Posted March 28, 2018 Author Posted March 28, 2018 I uploaded 5.0.12 firmware AND went three feet from the device and the switch added first try! Next issue is I moved the isy back to the basement and now it appears it's out of range.

Building a strong mesh network is paramount for good communication. I've attached a link from another zwave post that you should read. https://drzwave.blog/2017/01/20/seven-habits-of-highly-effective-z-wave-networks-for-consumers/ 25 minutes ago, asbril said: Perform a Heal A network heal wouldn't work for him in this case since he only has 1 device.

DrLumen Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 FWIW, I have a couple of those switches and can confirm they work with the ISY. Range or defect would be my guess as to your issue.
dvandorp Posted April 2, 2018 Author Posted April 2, 2018 I was able to add the device. Range definitely seems to be the issue. In for a penny in for a pound. More zwave devices on order. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
dvandorp Posted April 9, 2018 Author Posted April 9, 2018 So, at the end of the day my other zwave devices arrived. I had a heck of a time getting them added and communicating with the ISY. I ended up getting a Aeotec Zwave stick and setting up homeassistant to control it and worked out ok. My goal was to ultimately setup the isy as a secondary controller but never got that working either. I love my isy with insteon but really had trouble with zwave.
lilyoyo1 Posted April 9, 2018 Posted April 9, 2018 I would get an old extension cord, add the devices while close to the ISY and then move them to their permanent location. Once finished, run a network heal. This is how I handle all of my Insteon and zwave devices.
