Added my sprinklers and Alexa can't discover them

My ISY works flawlessly. Have about 15 devices connected that I can also control with Alexa skill. A mix of Insteon and X10.

I added all my sprinklers to ISY last night. They are controlled by an X10 sprinkler controller. I can control them fine from admin screen and also from MobiLinc

When I ask Alexa to discover devices she comes up empty.

Any thoughts?

Hi Bill and welcome to the UDI forums.

Its not mentioned in your writeup-- you need to subscribe to the ISY Portal, use the portal to connect your amazon account, echo and ISY, and you need to add the devices you want to control individually to the portal interface, after adding them to the ISY as you have.  Were those additional things done?

Yes I believe I have done all that. If I hadn't the sprinklers would not be workng from the ISY admin screen or through MobiLinc on my phone. I have many devices connected through ISY that Alexa can control just fine. She can't seem to discover the sprinklers.

I must be missing something.

Yes, and to be honest, I migrated off of x10 a few years back so I've never tried it through the portal.. A node is a node I would think.

I have 2 threads going at this point. Sorry. Maybe SYSADMIN can consolidate.

At the suggestion of another member I signed up for the portal and attemted to connect that way.

Portal reports error isy not online.

 yet I can access with admin screen and optiLinc via phone with no problems.

I know I must be doing something wrong but jsut don't know what

Hi billisy32,

Il order to use the ISY smart home skill, you need to:

• Have an ISY Portal account.
• Purchase the portal module
• In the admin console, go to Help/Manage module to install the module. Your ISY should then connect.
• Once connected, you also need to approve the connection in the admin console, under the portal tab. At this point, you can use your ISY through ISY Portal.
• You need to define your Alexa devices under Select Tools/Connectivity/Alexa
• You can then enable the skill and discover the devices.
