BoxORocks Posted June 13, 2018 Posted June 13, 2018 I've been using an ISY994i for a few months and it was working fine. Yesterday I accessed my MobiLinc app and found it couldn't reach any of the devices. I then tried to access the ISY994i admin console using a PC and it timed out trying to connect to the IP address. I've reset both the ISY994i and the PLM multiple times, to no avail. Is there anything else I can try? Mike
ronvond Posted June 13, 2018 Posted June 13, 2018 Have you recently changed routers? If your system is like mine, you probably have a fixed address for your ISY. Your new router isn't aware of the address.

Mike Could be many things but need to ask - Have you confirmed that your router is currently assigning the same IP address to the ISY that it did when you configured mobilinc? The User Manual showed me how to find the new IP address. All is well Most routers will allow you to assign an IP address to a device so that it won’t change. Google your router and DHCP reservation. Do the same DHCP reservation for any other devices you wish to control with the ISY or other. Tried the admin.jnlp. Nothing. I see where I can reserve an IP for each device that my router says is connected, but the ISY does not show up. I use the static IP of 192.168.1.161. Shouldn't the ISY just grab that IP from the router when it boots up? Thanks!

Shouldn't the ISY just grab that IP from the router when it boots up? Thanks! No. ISY will request an IP when it boots up but the router will just issue it the next address from it's free space pool. Usually you could disconnect or turn off the device for a few minutes and when you turn the ISY back on or reconnect it you should see a new MAC address pop up. Then you install that into the IP reservation table inside the router and assign it whatever address you want it to be. It must inside the set up range of addresses inside the router. To add to Larry's comment.. there are several different subnets used for NATing internet traffic... including 192.168.0.x, 192.168.1.x, and 10.x.x.x. If your new router uses a different subnet, it won't see it. It might be disruptive to your other devices initially, but maybe you can call spectrum and they can change the NAT subnet of the new router to 192.168.1.x (or talk you through it). Paulbates, the others are 192.168.1.x and they show up, if that's what you mean.

The private subnets available include all the subnets 192.168.X.X which is 256 class C subnets (subnet mask 255.255.255.0), and 10.X.X.X which is a single class A subnet (subnet mask 255.0.0.0).

paulbates Posted June 20, 2018 Posted June 20, 2018 (edited) When you assign a static address, it needs to not be in the pool the the new router's DHCP service uses to assign addresses to your other devices. Its possible that the new router assigned the ISY's address to something else. ... Are you saying 192.168.1.4 is where you are expecting the ISY to be? If you temporarily unplug snapwerx (if you can) and reboot the ISY you should be able to get to it. The ISY needs to be assigned to another address, but you'll need to know what the range of addresses is for the new router's DHCP pool, so you can avoid it... but you can try the above test and see if it gets you going If your ISP lets you have access to the router's management interface, its possible to resolve it there, maybe with their help Paul Edited June 20, 2018 by paulbates
Goose66 Posted June 20, 2018 Posted June 20, 2018 I believe you are saying your computer (SNAPWERXEDIT) is 192.168.1.4 (as seen in the ipconfig output) and the ISY is supposed to be at 192.168.1.161. So your setup should work fine EXCEPT your ping was routed to 192.168.1.4 so your local interface is a level above that. Make sure you don't have any VPN connection active (and kill off any VPN software). What about SNAPWERXLAPTOP? Is that a different computer?
jgcharlotte Posted June 20, 2018 Posted June 20, 2018 ok it looks like .4 is the computer I'm on, snapwerxedit. Pool is 1.2 to 1.254. I don't remember what the pool was in my old router, but I don't think I was outside of it, I just picked a number that it would never get to (161). I'm going to unplug everything from the router except for the ISY, then try to get to it from my phone. I don't know of any VPN connection. i certainly didn't set any up. Yes, snapwerxlaptop is a different computer.
