ArunGupta2014 Posted December 25, 2018 Posted December 25, 2018 My ISY is logging the following error every 15-30 seconds. How to fix this? 2018/12/25 01:11:53 System -5010 0 2018/12/25 01:12:08 System -5010 0 2018/12/25 01:12:35 System -5010 0 2018/12/25 01:12:50 System -5010 0 2018/12/25 01:13:17 System -5010 0
Michel Kohanim Posted December 25, 2018 Posted December 25, 2018 @ArunGupta2014, It means that ISY Portal subscription is blocked and being disconnected. This can explain why your routines do not work (status updates are not getting out to the portal). This usually happens when the router has packet filtering or parental control. In extreme cases, it could be a bad switch or the router firmware. With kind regards, Michel
ArunGupta2014 Posted December 25, 2018 Author Posted December 25, 2018 Michel, thanks for your reply. I have a firewall but I do not see any dropped packets. I have configured ISY to use non-default HTTP and HTTPS ports, 8001 and 44301. Outgoing traffic originating from ISY hub from both these ports is allowed to go out to the internet. Does the portal try to make incoming connection to the ISY hub? I have port forwarding setup for both HTTP and HTTPS ports. But the error messages still persist. I was looking at the following link for error messages. UPnP is disabled on the ISY hub. (I assume that ISY does not use UPnP, remember reading about it somewhere on this forum). https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:Errors_And_Error_Messages The error -5010 is UPNP SUBSCRIBER TCP CONNECT FAILURE tried to connect to the subscriber's ip/port but timed out Please let me know what kind of connection does the portal try to make to the ISY hub (incoming or outgoing) and what ports does it use. Thanks, Arun
Michel Kohanim Posted December 25, 2018 Posted December 25, 2018 @ArunGupta2014, ISY makes an outbound connection to the Portal for both proxy as well as subscriptions. The error basically means that ISY cannot get out to the internet. This has nothing to do with your incoming http and https ports UNLESS you have created port forwarding rules for those. If you have, please remove them. Otherwise, it's almost a certainty that your router is blocking ISY traffic to the Internet. With kind regards, Michel
ArunGupta2014 Posted December 25, 2018 Author Posted December 25, 2018 The port forwarding rules were just for testing and I had disabled them when the errors were persistent. After some troubleshooting, the ISY uses outgoing port 8000 and 443. Port 443 was already open. After I opened port 8000, the errors are gone. The Alexa routine is also working, but with the 30 second activity limit. I will update the other thread. Is it possible to include the port requirements for portal in some documentation so it might help others? Thanks, Arun

Thanks, Arun As much as I have constantly heard about the evils of enabling uPnP, anytime I have disabled it in my router, many things stop working.I have a few conflicting articles but hardly any discuss any problems with it being used.Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk
