jlamb Posted February 8, 2019 Posted February 8, 2019 (edited) I have an old zwave module I purchased in 2013 or thereabouts that I never added to my ISY994i ir/pro. I have added a picture for identification. I now have some zwave devices I’d like to integrate into my ISY. I am trying to decide whether I should use the existing module I already have or purchase the new 500 series module. Are there siginificant differences between the two that one would recommended the latest version module or would the existing module produce the same results or allow the same features? Spending the $40 for the new one is not an issue just wondering if it’s necessary. Thank you in advance for any feedback. Edit: I am currently using 5.0.14b Edited February 9, 2019 by jlamb
kclenden Posted February 9, 2019 Posted February 9, 2019 I don't have the zwave module, but I have been considering adding one. From reading the forum, the answer to your question is that it's not necessary for you to upgrade. However, if you want to take advantage of any of the Zwave+ features available in new devices, you'll need the 500 series or later. Additionally, it seems like there is some pain when converting from the 300 series to a new series so if you're going to use Zwave+ features it might be worth $40 (depending on the enjoyment, or lack thereof, that you get out of setting things up) to skip setting up under the 300 series and then later converting to the 500 or later series.
Bumbershoot Posted February 9, 2019 Posted February 9, 2019 There is a requirement that you upgrade your ISY firmware to the the current BETA to use this module. It won't work on the 4.x.x series firmware. 1
