Issue: Insteon leak sensor no response

Recommended Posts

Hi

I just setup my new isy994i, and linked a Insteon leak sensor 2852-222. But 'status' is blank. When put it in program as a condition, wet/dry/heart always has no change.

Anyone can help please?

thanks

James

Insteon devices only report changes. Until there us some change ISY has no way of knowing anything and shows a blank.

If you want to see something in ISY you will have to test your LD unit.

The heartbeat will send out a new heartbeat signal every 24 hours. It will send alternating on and off or just on each time.

Search for Belias recommended leak detection system for a proven set of programs. They may also be listed on the UDI wiki.

After testing with real water, dont forget to reset the LD after drying off.

The water must have some minerals in it or it will be an insulator. Try a spill on the counter and touch the contacts into the puddle. Within another 12 hours you should be showing the heartbeat node filled in with "On"

Your LD are showing that data is trying to be written to the devices . See the "1011"?

Your setup was not complete and it appears the linking mode was not used properly. Start again.

I don't believe you have them set up properly in your ISY.  In your screenshot, to the left of the leak sensors name, you'll see a symbol/icon that looks like it contains the numbers, "1011".  This means that you have pending data that needs to be written to the sensor.  You'll have to press the "Set" button on your leak sensor until its LED begins to blink, then write the changes to the device, which you can accomplish by right-clicking on the device and choosing, "Write Updates to Device" from the context menu.  After the writes are finished, press the "Set" button once or twice more until the LED stops blinking, and you should be good to go.  Then test the sensor.

The sensor will have a symbol/icon next to the name that looks like a water droplet when the sensor is included into the ISY correctly.  See screenshot.

In your screenshot, it appears that you have a couple of other devices that need to have data written to them as well.

You are geniuses! i had been testing for hours. Now it has the water droplet icon in front of the devices, and WORK!

Thanks!

Don't forget to aways  reset the LD after testing. Until you "reload" the LD it will not shoot another trigger and show "Wet" forever.

As I just got a leak sensor to play with... please explain this "reload" for me and others.

jzh, glad you understood as I could take the "reload" term a couple of different directions... but I'm complicated like that.

We don't have many guns in Canada so 'reload' has fewer meanings. default_smile.png

OK. The LD has to be 'cocked' or it won't fire when it touches water.

The creators, in their wisdom, made the user check the water level before further usage after a leak is detected by forcing them to visit the location to reset the button, before the LD can detect again.

IOW: it is a manual reset and no automatic reset will happen.
