jwm22222 Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 Set up my new ISY994 and thought that would eliminate the connection to my Insteon Hub. However, I find that after setting up my ISY994, everything is still connected and working probably through my Hub. All my Insteon devices are working as programmed by the ISY994. But Alexa verbal commands still work properly, I get notification from my Hub on my phone and Apple watch, etc. Seems like the best of both worlds but I assume this this can cause conflicts. Is this bad, am I missing something?
paulbates Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 Hi and welcome to the UDI Forums! The best way to migrate is to factory reset each device before adding to the ISY. A recommended way to do it is divide your devices into rooms / functions. Factory reset a room of devices, add to the ISY, set up scenes and programs. Do it a little at a time to give yourself time to get used to it and then pick up the pace when you're comfortable with it Having 2 insteon controllers... the Hub and the ISY/PLM on the same insteon devices can create a lot of confusion and can be very hard to diagnose / debug what is causing odd behavior on a particular device Paul
jec6613 Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 Since you're already set up on the ISY, rather than factory reset, just right click and restore device - then the hub connection will be broken. Also, unplug the hub.
lilyoyo1 Posted July 22, 2019 Posted July 22, 2019 I would still factory reset the devices as half links can remain in them causing problems down the road. With the isy (out any absence controller) shortcuts will cause the most harm. Start with a clean slate and strong foundation early on to have a great system for years to come. Starting with a clean slate is always best with the any controller. This prevents abnormal behavior and slow system response. While you only have scenes set up you probably won't notice much. However I've you stay setting up programs, those can be impacted by multiple controllers
