Adding the Z-wave module appears to be more involved than I would have thought.  I am currently on firmware v4.7.3.  The newer z-wave modules require v5.0.13 or higher.  So, I feel i should upgrade to the latest  v5.0.15A.  Please help me to clarify the process.  I only have insteon devices and the netwerok modules driving a GC100-06  A) Can i upgrade directly to 5.0.15A or do i need to install another 5.0.x release first? B) I see many people suggesting I disable all wireless battery devices and programs first before upgrade / save all text from programs to a word doc.

Sorry to ask so much but here are the steps I was planning to take please let me know if i should remove or add any

  1. open current admin console
  2. backup current isy
  3. disable all wireless battery devices
  4. disable and backup all programs
  5. download 5.0.15a
  6. Help > manually upgrade ISY
  7. Select 5.0.15a files

Thanks!

You can upgrade directly from 4.7.3. Link below is task list I put together from lots of reading others experiences and UDI instructions on the process.

hart2hart's task list is time tested by a number of users here. He came back and edited the first post to contain the fully tested list of steps. If you have no z-wave devices you can red-line those steps / sections.

Now is a good time to move to V5. Plan a an hour or 2 to familiarize yourself with his steps and do it.  That will get you on the latest ISY FW.

One note, if you have the pro ISY, you don't need to disable all wireless devices. You can use the control that causes them to be skipped until the end, see the pic below. However I did not need to do this when upgrading to V5; I think that comment may have been from zwave users. Since you are insteon only, and your are not changing your PLM address, you should not need to do this.

I notice that you have more icons in the  tool bar than I do. How can we manage that tool bar such as adding or deleting icons ? I don't have Insteon and would like to delete those Insteon icons. Is that possible ?

Its my incessant need to one-up everybody ?

Seriously, the only thing I can think of, is that I have the pro version. It adds the ability for more programs and devices, and the featurers supported by those last 2 icons. Its not possible to change those
