ulrick65 Posted October 24, 2019 Posted October 24, 2019 I have an ISY994i/IR-Pro and I was wondering if adding Z-Wave capability was as easy as buying the z-wave card from the store and installing it? I see there is an internal and external version, can someone confirm if it will work and which one? Thanks for the help.

I purchased my z-wave dongle from UDI in March 2018 at which time I was still using 4.7.3. Everything worked fine. I have since upgraded to 5.0.15a. I purchased an Inovelli on/off switch which I was unable to get working. One of comments I received from Inovelli was questioning whether I had upgraded my Z-Wave dongle to the plus version. I haven't. Can you advise how I might accomplish that? Do I just purchase a new dongle, or is there a software update? Thanks, Ron
Michel Kohanim Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 Hi Ron, please click on Z-Wave | Advanced | Z-Wave version and let me know what you see. With kind regards, Michel
ronvond Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 z-wave version 4.55.00, Bootloader 1.03, Library Static Controller
Michel Kohanim Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 Hi Ron, You would need our 500 series dongle. But, I really do not know why it matters. Did they give you any ideas? Otherwise, please send your invoice to sales@universal-devices.com and request for an upgrade to your dongle. Please note that if you move to 500 series, a) you need to upgrade your ISY firmware to 5.0.16 and b) you need to backup your existing dongle and then restore on the new one. With kind regards, Michel
ronvond Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 Michel, Following is the message I received from the Inovelli folks: Have you upgraded your ISY994i Zwave dongle to Zwave plus? The ISY has more control options at it’s disposal with the Zwave plus dongle, also you should be running your ISY on firmware version 5.16 (RC1), this version has fixed some bugs that the ISY had with Inovelli switches. End of their message. I have downloaded, but not installed version 5.16. On the subject of the Z-Wave invoice, I no longer have that, but checking my PayPal account I could find a charge to Orchestrated Home, Invoice 5763, in the amount of $59.98, dated 03/10/2018. Do you think that will suffice? Thanks for all the help you've given me in the past. Ron

With kind regards, Michel Michel, I have backed up my ISY and did a full backup on my Z-Wave dongle, all in preparation for upgrading to 5.0.16. Is there anything I should be aware of when doing the upgrade. I seem to remember I need to clear the Java cache and then download a new UDI version. Thanks again for all your help, Ron
DennisC Posted November 5, 2019 Posted November 5, 2019 I would suggest making a note of any disabled programs, turn off automatic writes for battery operated devices, and check each program after the update. Some minor adjustments may need to be done after the upgrade or some programs may need to be resaved.
