Tominnh Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 For some reason my updates showing as available in Polisy are not installing. I keep getting the message "Update failed! Check polisy logs for details." The only system change was to the modem. Xfinity stated that the modem I had needed to be upgraded. I installed the new modem and ran speedtest. Speedtest showed that data received was much higher than with the older modem. IP addresses had not changed however I expected them to change. I did notice an IP address change to my ISY which I corrected in Polisy and all seemed well. Updates however were not being installed. Looking at the log file I saw MANY streaming lines of activity which are continuing to happen. I've attached the most recent log file below. I'm at a loss as to how to correct this issue. Thanks polyglot_2020-1-17_084348.txt
Bumbershoot Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 A couple of things: The log you attached is your Polyglot log, not your Polisy system log. I suspect you'll need to look at '/var/log/messages' for information relevant to the software upgrades. Taking a quick look at your Polyglot log, it appears that your nodeservers are all happily doing their thing. At first glance I didn't notice any errors or problems. They are busy, but that may just be the nature of the nodeservers you've installed. Everything is apparently succeeding (an http status response of '200' means success). 2020-1-17 08:43:06 [polyglot] debug: MQTTP: nsCommand Message: {"command":{"address":"harmonyctrl","command":"DON"},"node":"1"} 2020-1-17 08:43:06 [polyglot] info: HarmonyHub(1): Processing command: command 2020-1-17 08:43:06 [polyglot] debug: ISY: 200 - http://192.168.50.254:5665/rest/ns/1/nodes/n001_harmonyctrl/report/cmd/DON 2020-1-17 08:43:06 [polyglot] info: HarmonyHub(1): n001_harmonyctrl :: DON sent sucessfully 2020-1-17 08:43:08 [polyglot] debug: MQTTP: nsCommand Message: {"command":{"address":"cameractrl","command":"DON"},"node":"2"} 2020-1-17 08:43:08 [polyglot] info: Camera(2): Processing command: command 2020-1-17 08:43:08 [polyglot] debug: ISY: 200 - http://192.168.50.254:5665/rest/ns/2/nodes/n002_cameractrl/report/cmd/DON 2020-1-17 08:43:08 [polyglot] info: Camera(2): n002_cameractrl :: DON sent sucessfully Regarding the system update, there are other threads with other users noting that the update process isn't working correctly, so you're not alone. I'm sure that UDI is well aware of the issues. BTW, if you know how to ssh into your Polisy, you can always update it from the command line: sudo pkg update && sudo pkg upgrade
Michel Kohanim Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 Hello everyone, a known bug that is fixed. We should have an update on Monday at the latest. Reset button enhancement: - 1 click = reboot - 2 clicks = go check for updates/upgrades/missing packages/baselines and update the system (reboots afterwards) - 3 clicks = shutdown - you need to reapply power if you want to turn it back on Press and hold 5-9 seconds - resets all credentials including ssh back to defaults. Restarts polyglot + UDX Press and hold 10-20 seconds - resets networking back to DHCP, disables WiFi Press and hold 20-30 seconds - factory reset - reboots With kind regards, Michel

This whole process I just don't get. The web page states that the updates failed and to check the logs. I click on the logs and it says successful yet the Number of updates increase with every attempt. I'm not a stupid person but I'm not an IT programmer nor do I want to be. Baffled at this point.

Nothing further. From what's been communicated those are "New" features in the latest release so they may not be available to everyone yet as updates are rolling out. I'm sure it will make it into the wiki at some point. Currently there's a lot of things going on with Polisy and documentation is not the highest of priorities until things are settled and working.
Tominnh Posted January 20, 2020 Author Posted January 20, 2020 Resolved issues using PUTTY and the commands from WIKI
asbril Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 I now have 5 updates that don't go through. As everything works fine, I am not particularly worried and I hesitate to use sudo and putty which are slightly beyond my technical level. Am I correct in thinking that eventually this will be corrected by another working update ?

Am I correct in thinking that eventually this will be corrected by another working update ? @asbril, I think I've understood that you run a Mac. If so, you don't even need PuTTY. You have a terminal built in and ready to use (and in case you're using a recent version of Windows, the Command Prompt application provides exactly the same functionality). All that's involved is a little bit of typing on your part. On your Mac, open the terminal app: Applications | Utilities | Terminal.app in Finder or Command - Space Bar on your keyboard, and type in terminal.app You only have to know the IP address of your Polisy and the password for the 'admin' account. The default password is: admin. Just type what's in blue into the terminal at the prompt (you'll start with ssh admin....) I only had two packages that needed updating, so your list of updates will be a bit longer. Keep in mind that you're typing in the Polisy password twice (once to log in and once to run the 'sudo' command to start the updates) and typing "yes" or "y" three times. The bits in blue are the only commands you'll need, and you can type those in verbatim. ~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+ Bumbershoots-Mac-mini:~ bumbershoot$ ssh admin@192.168.x.xx (your Polisy IP address) The authenticity of host '192.168.x.xx (192.168.x.xx)' can't be established. rahnee Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Just noticed that my WiFi config etc. is now gone. I previously disabled it because I am wired. When I go to Settings | Polisy Config, I only see timezone. @Michel Kohanim - I am running 1.0.26_15
gviliunas Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 @rahneeI had the same problem. To fix, open an ssh session and then enter the following commands: sudo service udx stop sudo pkg delete udx sudo pkg install udx sudo service udx start

Worrisome, yes, but I am glad it is back.
