jesusmr Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 I upgraded to the Zwave Dongle 500. When I try to include an Eaton RF9601 switch I always receive the error "The Z-wave network failed to securely include your new device." I excluded it, I gave hard reset to the switch, repair link, heal network and I still haven't been able to add it. I would appreciate some help Thanks, JReyes Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
DennisC Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 How far away is the device from the ISY? Often, to securely add a device it needs to be right next to ISY.
jesusmr Posted February 24, 2020 Author Posted February 24, 2020 The switch is in the room next to the isy, about 14 feet.ThanksSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
lilyoyo1 Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 (edited) You need to move it closer to add and will probably need repeaters. Edited February 24, 2020 by lilyoyo1
DennisC Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 To install it, the device should be about 2 feet from the ISY. After installation you can move it back to its original location. Like suggested above, you may need to build out the mesh.

TriLife Posted June 24, 2021 Posted June 24, 2021 Hello all; I get the same error, with AeoTec MultiSensor 6 devices on V1.14, ISY on 5.3.0 and the device less than 10" away. It doesn't matter, if I reset the sensor. I always have to Exclude before Add. It gives the error, but adds the device. I don't want to install them in their location, 20' in the air... Any ideas? cheers
ronbo Posted July 8, 2021 Posted July 8, 2021 I get the same error 3 trying to add a secondary controller to my ISY ZWave network. I have the units on top of each other, so its not the distance. I am running 5.3.3. Any ideas greatly appreciated

Any ideas? cheers I think the issue is with ISY 5.3.0 not supporting Security 2 yet, as indicated in the pop up window for Z-wave (see attached. In any case, as mentioned by many others and just confirmed in my installation, connecting the AeoTec MS in non-secure mode significantly speeds up the response time and seems to strengthen the meshing. Unless you have a very strong case for encryption, I'd skip it. Cheers.
