I use them in two refrigerators in both the refrigerator and freezer compartments. They work well. I have them send me alerts through my ISY when the temperature gets too warm and they definitely do that. They seem to work very reliably in the freezer compartments.

Perfect.  My wife asked about temp monitoring in the freezers last night... YAY.. she's finally after years getting on board with things :)

Man that's cold! :)

Mine wakes up via sensing light changes and sends notifications after a time delay. Other than that it sends all data every 30 minutes.

Tag manager and 3 tags ordered.  See how this goes....

You'll love them except for the battery changes. I haven't broken any yet but as the plastic ages in the uv outside, I worry.

My shady house side unit has a dead battery now, but I am 3000km south of it right now. The sunny side unit still works fine and i can guess the delta based on the lux reports.

Hopefully my units don't get much UV exposure being in freezers!  If they do there's a bigger problem!

Just a general comment.

If you need to change the battery of a wireless tag that is in a freezer, I would let it get to room temperature before doing so. I would think the plastic could be a little more brittle when it is real cold, like frozen.

I need to get it on a schedule every fall before I have to climb ladders in the snow every year.

@simplextech Hopefully you hit my affiliate link :)  I would have recommenced getting the new USB ones with extra battery, I just replaced a couple of mine with those and they seem to be working well.

No sorry... didn't know about or look for an affiliate link... I will on the next purchase :)

Do the usb one's work well in the freezer?

Well, bummer. No support for you! :) It's in the first post for the nodeserver:

The USB ones are supposed to have better range and have been working great and much easier to recharge then pry the other ones apart to replace the battery.

LOL - I actually didn't look at the Nodeserver post... sorry.  I was more interested in getting feedback if they would die in the freezer :)

Just remember the door open closed motion is not on either of the new USB sensors, and only one has motion detection and lux in case you wanted those features.

When I enabled my fridge door unit Door Mode a box popped up and stated it did the detection by lux levels changes. That really surprised me but inside a fridge door, it makes sense, between the interior light and the outside light in a lit room. It works but eventually the light level or the temperature rise would trigger my ISY variable inputs anyway. Fortunately the door mode updates very quickly after the 90 second door mode notification delay. It has saved us quite a few times now.

Thanks.  Just wanting temperature monitoring for the freezers.  Wife just stocked them and is now worried about a "what-if" there's a problem with the freezer.

The only issue I have is that the battery voltage will read low in a freezer.  I use two, and the tag in the garage freezer is probably 60’ from the tag manager, with multiple walls in between.  Works like a charm.

I believe the battery percentage reading compensates for the low voltage reading though. Once the Tag warms up, the battery voltage comes back up, but the percentage remains fairly constant.

How many here opted and purchased the Pro version vs the standard? I had a friend ask about getting one of these devices installed in their system. Since I don't own one best to ask those who do! Lastly, what have people been seeing in terms of actual operational life time with the standard coin cell?

Are people still rocking the dollar store variety or opting to use Panasonic, Duracell, Energizer, Other??

I have both. Pro has cache for months of data and 13 bit with 0.5c? accuracy. Others are 8 bit with 1.0c accuracy.

Batteries last about 7 to 15 months depending on ....luck.

I use CR2032 batteries from Ebay with cheapest price. Dollarama ones can fail in weeks depending on storage length of time.

I haven't found a reliable longer life brand with Sony, Panasonic, Everready, DoraSell, or any new name brand. My guess is they all come from the same factory anyway.

It's been a while since I reviewed the history of this product but can anyone confirm this product still relies on a cloud connection for their hub? Given the pro can store on board data and than transfer the same to their cloud portal that is the main driver for my friend. Regardless, can the same data from these sensors be directed to a local system to capture environmental data?

I recall back in the past others mentioned this company had a fail over plan should they fold they would release the API to allow their system to run locally or in the worst case scenario be redirected to another cloud service like AWS, Google Sheets, etc.

They are stronger than ever with more new products every year than Smarthome releases in any decade.

Cloud checkin is still required.
