Unable to exit safe mode

Hi all,

A couple of weeks ago my PLM failed and it's hard to find one here in Brazil, so I decided to wait someone I know to go to US and bring a new one for me.

The problem now is that I had a power outage and consequently my ISY rebooted and get stuck into a "Safe Mode" operation that I couldn't find any information on how to bypass this thing. Basically my house is a mix of Insteon and zWave devices and everything except Insteon was working till this safe mode been activated and now all my programs stopped including some essentials like my heater and water pump which was redundant between Insteon and zWave network.

Can someone kindly describe how to exit this Safe Mode to let my programs to run again?

Thank you so much

You need to install the zwave only version firmware. That'll bypass safe mode

Outh!

Many programs rely on the redundancy between Insteon and zWave. For instance I have my heater exchange controlled by either a Insteon relay and a zWave relay. My door lock automatically based on an Insteon door/window switch that is easy to set its status as always closed in order to bypass the door status I've added to that specific program. What will happen to these programs that has Insteon in it?

Insteon needs the plm in order to send/receive insteon signals. If the plm is bad they won't get the signal regardless of what you do so it's irrelevant. Those programs wouldn't work anyway. Any non insteon based programs would still run however.

With the zwave only firmware, once you get a new Plm, those would work like normal.

There were many threads and posts telling how to replace the power supply capacitors on PLMs.

A soldier enabled tech guy may be able to get you up and running faster. Maybe take it to a radio repair shop and ask.

Thanks Larryllix.. Indeed I already fixed this unit twice.. Now it's completely dead even replacing all the capacitors on the board :(

Make sure you get a newer version. There are lots of poor units out there as Insteon would never admit a problem. Just QA.

No 2.3 is not the latest hardware revision.

The presently selling 2413S is a 2.5 directly from Smarthome. It has an improved serial port daughter board. That has a better ESD rated serial interface IC and some protection on the serial signals to the outside world. Also C7 and C13 on the main board's power supply. That are more suitable to a switching power supply.

I did see the better caps and serial port interface IC on the older serial port daughter board in a V2.3 but not the new daughter board.

Thank you so much for clarifying Brian. I'll make sure I'm getting this model. Purchase things from US to have it delivered in Brazil is kinda nightmare, I have to be accurate otherwise will cost me more money.
