ISY-99iR/Pro not saving local ramp on Switchlinc (2476D) ?

I just received my ISY-99iR/Pro and have been setting up all my Insteon devices.

It seems no matter what I do, when changing the local ramp rate of a 2476D switchlinc on the ISY99 will not stick.

I've tried creating the 2764D both manually by entering the 2476D's address and by auto linking method. In both cases the ramp rate and on level don't seem to get saved.

The 2476D's are Switchlinc Dimmers v.27

Thanks for the help guys.

Hi Diesel,

Older version of SWLs require you to airgap the switch for the setting to take effect. All you have to do is:

1. Set the ramp rate/on level on your switch via Admin Console

2. On your switch, take the set button out, leave it out for 5 seconds and gently slide it back in

With kind regards,

Michel

Michel, thank you so much for the quick reply.

The mystery is solved. I would have never figured that out on my own.

I've only had the ISY99iR/pro for 2 days now, but after almost 2 years of struggling with managing Insteon without it. I really appreciate what a great job of you've done on the ISY. It makes life a whole lot easier.

I'll most likely have many questions along the way as I learn to use it. Right now I'm just get all my devices added.

Sorry I spoke too soon.

The local ramp rate is now persisting after a 5 sec airgap but...

what's the magic trick for the onlevel to stick ? I set it to 60%, but it just goes on full even after a 5 sec airgap.

Hi Diesel,

Very strange! Does this happen on all your SWLs or only on this particular one?

In short, if the ramp rate is saved, there should be no reason whatsoever for the on level not to be saved UNLESS there's device communication error. When you set the on level, do you see any device communication errors pop up?

With kind regards,

Michel

No errors as far as can tell.

I haven't tried it on another SWL. Will do that later and see if I get the same result.

Is there any way to get these SWL's updated so that I don't have to airgap to set these levels ? I'm guessing the answer is no, but they're only 18 months old so it's a little disappointing that they don't have this capability directly from the ISY.

By the way, I noticed in the device notes there's a checkbox for Is Load (unchecked). What is the Is Load checkbox used for ?

Thanks for your help once again.

Hi Diesel,

Unfortunately none of the INSTEON devices are field upgradeable. The very recent firmware devices do not require an airgap.

It would be great if you could test another one of your SWLs and this way we can figure out whether or not the problem is the SWL itself.

With kind regards,

Michel
