LMcGrath Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 I'm slowly but surely getting the hang of my new system, but when I tried to add a new device, the message "fail to add device, reason 3". I've seen another forum on it was a few years ago and I was trying to follow their advice but I got lost. The system runs on 120 VAC, 600W and 60HZ. Is there a way to know if the switch itself is busted and do I need a new one?
LMcGrath Posted December 21, 2020 Author Posted December 21, 2020 I also just realized that each time I try to add a new device or start linking, the device does not get recognized by the system
Brian H Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 (edited) What version firmware and does the UI match the firmware version? What is the device's part number you are trying to add? Looks like you using the Start Linking method and not the Add a New Device choice from the drop down menu? From the Event Viewer information you posted. After the initial ID by holding the Set Button On the Device and it being seen. It is not sending back any more details on what it is. When it is being sent a request for information on it. You may want to try a Factory Reset on the device and see if it may have some corrupted information in it. Edited December 21, 2020 by Brian H
DennisC Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 I believe reason 3 means: 3 DEVICE RETURNED INVALID NODE an address that we don't have in our node map. I would also suggest doing a factory reset on the device and using the Add New Device from the menu. Also, look at the device address and be sure you are reading it correctly. Some times the numbers are hard to see clearly. 1
