paulw Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 Having strange results in cross linking. I have two Keylinc 6 key v.6, sometime I can get a link to write and function properly, other times it may work one way but not the other. KL key A cross linked to a Switchlinc V.35. The 99i will display the status on/off of the KL A button properly, but no response from the Switchlinc. Both devices are showing in the scene as controllers. I have another Keylinc where key D will respond properly to the Switchlinc in turning on and off, but it will not control the Switchlinc. Again, the 99i shows all is linked properly. I have tried "restore device" for each device, which helped getting this far, and also helped getting another link to work properly. But, has done nothing to resolve these units. Another comment, I am finding that there are times when doing all the "restore device's" a couple of Switchlinc v.35 will hang up and need to be reset before the 99i can communicate again. Any ideas?? Quote
Michel Kohanim Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 Hi Paul, We have had cases where SWL 35s were the actual culprits. And, I am specifically talking about v35 ONLY. How old are you switches? Would it be possible to get replacement for them? With kind regards, Michel Having strange results in cross linking. paulw Posted December 13, 2009 Author Posted December 13, 2009 Michel, Interesting, I have about 17 of them. They were replaced by SH in 9/2008 due to the faulty paddles on the older ones. What problems have you seen them exhibit? I had noticed previous to the 99i install, that I had two links to KL's that would randomly not want to work. They would not want to turn on, but if I went to the SWL 35 and turned it on locally, I could go back to the KL and have complete control again. I only have one day under my belt with the 99i...... but, I am finding that it randomly is having issues communicating. Up to this point I have only been working with linking a couple of KL's and the SWL 35's. Was afraid go go much further with the problems I have been having. I do have a couple of other KL's which only link to appliance modules or x10 devices, will give them a go later today. Quote
paulw Posted December 13, 2009 Author Posted December 13, 2009 Michel, Some additional info, I am having scenes downloading to a KL which are not in the 99i. I can reset the KL, confirm that keys A-D do nothing. Then do a "restore device" on the KL and have scenes appear that are not in the 99i. Am I missing something? Quote
Michel Kohanim Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 Hi Paul, The errors with a very small batch of SWL35s were mostly signal sensitivity and unreliable group handling issues. Some of your SWLs might be from that batch but the best way to test is to do a Scene Test (Tools | Diagnostics | Scene Test) for one or more of your scene wherein there's at least one SWL35 and one non-SWL35. If the SWL35 fails randomly but the other device does not, then in all likelihood the switch itself is the issue. If you have used the third option (import existing links) when you added your devices to ISY, that would explain why you would get spurious links when you restore. Although it might take longer, but in the long run, you will be spending a LOT less time if you started from scratch for your most important devices. With kind regards, Michel Quote
paulw Posted December 15, 2009 Author Posted December 15, 2009 Michel, Many thanks, I started over from scratch. Much improved. I do find that when I log into the 99i after 24 hours or so, I keep seeing communication issues with the same devices. Going to follow up with SH, they are all SWL35's. Thanks for your help! Quote
