@jfai,

As Einstein once said "Education is that which remains, if one has forgotten everything he learned in school", when you have 8MB RAM and 2MB flash, and limited resources to handle/parse things, you ignore what you learned in school or links. You just do whatever it takes.

With kind regards,
Michel

Hi Michel, I performed the Polisy/ISY update and it went perfectly.

That said I continue to have problems with "Mail Server Failure" when I "Test" email - see image.  The odd thing is it does send the test email.

My ISY 994 has the identical email configuration and it works fine.

I did the usual reboot etc.

Is there anything I can check in the file system to ensure it's config'd properly?

Thanks!

Just started setting up my polisy/ISY. Tried to change the port address to 80 to avoid the https flagging constantly and now ISY Launcher cann't find it. When the address is ADDED to the launcher it cannot find it.

I figured I created a conflict with my polyglot so I stopped my polyglot service but to no avail.

How do I modify some setup file to set my polISY back to the 8080 port or 8443 port?

@larryllix,

We had completely ignored that our customers are very technical and will inevitably change ports. Completely our fault. We shall remove that option ...

Now, what you need to do, ssh to polisy and:

sudo rm -f /var/isy/FILES/CONF/0.UCF
sudo service isy restart

With kind regards,
Michel

Did the trick!  Thank you very much!!!!

Now to tinker

How long before we have USB Zwave sticks in beta to play with?
( iknow...push..push) :)

Keep in mind HTTP = Port 80

HTTPS = Port 443

Since 433 has another use with Polisy...... thats why 8443 is a better choice..

Thanks. I realised the conflict after I did it.

Just pulled in a backup from my ISY into my polisy after starting over and realising this would take me a month.

Makes a mess of the variable values but they are all installed by name, NR installed, programs installed = no PLM so lot of patching to do when that happens. Will still take a week or so of patching but not the month I was looking at before.

If the full and proper backup and restore happens, all my ISY elements should line up and fall into place later.

Went through and installed conditions in almost every folder so I can enable them one at a time later.
     If $cTrue is not $cTrue

System clocks and calendar seem to be working into variables. Now waiting for my USB Zwave to be drivered up by UDI. :)  I bought the SiLab dongle. I guess I could install one of my spare serial PLMs or better yet, my USB PLM. I almost forgot about that one. :)

Things are clicking away now.

BTW: Makes you wonder about all these shipping delay excuses. DigiKey.com shipped my SiLab Zwave dongle late Tues from MN/ND. Night about 10:30 PM. It went to Memphis, then to Mississauga (by Toronto) and was delivered to me Thursday about 12:30 noonish (about 20 hours) for $8, cheapest shipping. Unheard of before in my 70 years. Usually those things take about 7 to 15 days. Go pandemic!

I went through this morning and corrected all my endians from my cross load (ISY backup= polisy Restore)

If the number is positive subtract 256 x 256 x 256
If the number is negative subtract 256 x 256 x 256 then add 256 to get the proper result.

This got my hundreds of $constant (Integer) variable values back and working. I wrote a small ISY program to do that but I had to to change the variable names for each manual run of the conversion program. @Michel KohanimPlease give us "indexed variables"!! :). One polisy program run could have fixed all Endian transfer problems in one foul swoop, right inside my polisy.

Got my CAO Tags KumoApps double reporting to both ISY and polisy, along with many self triggered slave ISY programs calculating more convenient values like dewpoints from them.

so I ordered my usb plm and decided to put isy on my polyisy

got as far as running the v13 shell script which has me running v5.04 isy

I am on the portal which verifies the version just fine.

all is running fine but when I try to update to v5.1.1 I get..

pkg: https://pkg.isy.io/FreeBSD-base/FreeBSD:13:amd64/latest/packagesite.pkg: Not Found
FreeBSD-base repository is up to date.
Updating udi repository catalogue...
udi repository is up to date.
All repositories are up to date.

when run from the portal the update gives a http 500 error

when run from the admin the update window asks for me to do a backup then nothing.

any thoughts?

@Michel Kohanim,

yes sir I did.  a couple times to be sure.

when I look up similar issues with bsd they suggest to 'wait' until the servers update, but it seems most others here are not having any issues.

OK. New problem. @Michel Kohanim

Trying to connect to my first Insteon module (tried a few now).
I have tried a USB PLM (new), a serial port PLM (used), power cycled both PLM and polisy many times (in PC order) and when I attempt to link my first Insteon plug-in module, ll I ever get is this error and then my polisy/ISY goes into a continuous busy box "initialising system" . When it finishes 100%, it starts again and never stops.

I have noticed that it has stored variables for system time and dates, and also updated variables via REST input from my ISY running NRs.

I haven't seen any "with PLM" "without PLM" firmware versions for v5.1.1 polisy.

UPDATE: About | PLM info/status shows "/not connected" regardless of PLM style.

Any ideas or clues?

Admittedly I didn't read the whole thread @larryllix, but you might double check that Insteon Support is enabled, it might be that simple.

@Michel Kohanim I got my polisy/ISY  working, then got past the commitment point and had to move everything over (commit). Daunting task took me about two days to clean up some variables (endian reversal) , program enables random, and Scenes demolished. LOL  (I used Restore from an ISY backup image)  Running 98% now...mostly good. Most items just needed to be refreshed to function. I am running on a USB PLM via polisy USB port.

Some outstanding issues I have found:

  • WoL seem to be outstanding and none of the 3 devices I tested work. They do work from my router so devices still receptive and functioning
  • Some OR logic not shown properly in admin console. I have one program that refused to show two ORed conditions in the If section. Other programs show the OR text just fine. When two logic statements are ANDed they showed fine. This is only the admin console text (GUI) , and the ISY logic seems to function just fine anyway.
  • X10 support appears outstanding. I cannot find any method to add any X10 devices in admin console. X10 module not installed, but no hard address method is available either.

@larryllix, thank you for posting your progress.

I understand that you restored a isy994 image to Polisy.  Question, did you factory reset all insteon devices then discover them in Polisy ISY? Or, for the most part they ported over to the new USB modem during the restore image process?

Devices were not successfuly ported and none showed up. Different PLM anyway. Maybe moving PLM with the image may have worked better. Programs are then marked in yellow with Insteon addresses marked in comments. Enable/ disable cannot be trusted and a check box toggle at least one way and save fixes those.

Variable values over 255? or maybe 16536 need to be divided by 256x256x256. If negative then add 256 after. I wrote a small ISY program and continually updated the variable names. Calculator would have been faster.

NRs did work until edited and saved back as they came in.

WoL still doesn't work for any devices.

Devices were added one at a time using Delete all existing links. Will attempt clean up later. Not sure what will be left in devices yet. Factory reset or at least old ISY uninstall may be better but all but LD under dishwasher working well now.

CAO tags ran as dual kumoapp for a while. Now only polisy.

My NRbridge just needed heartbeat variable updated.
