Doesn't appear to be any way to downgrade back to 14 even though they (Apple) are releasing security updates they're not allowing anybody that upgraded to iOS15 to downgrade back to 14.x at this point. (my old phone and ipad went up to 14.8.1 recently) Really hope they get this fixed. Now in the iOS15.1 life it stinks. Mobilinc works now and then, but mostly only when I leave it open/active as I cross the geofence. Locative isn't working at all (even after remove and delete steps @MrBill outlined). Oddly enough though Alexa location services are working more frequently for me. So this is oddly enough an interesting geofence dilemma. I've also experienced that Google Maps is not updating location history if the app is in the "background" for too long. I've suddenly left locations after being there a few hours even though the app was still running, but not in focus and the phone not unlocked. Apple must be getting more like Google in killing location apps more than users want them to.

It's not the fault of either app, the breakage is on Apple's side. 15.2 is in beta and it's reported that there is no fix there either. Just got the IOS 15.1.1 update notification and installed. Only note I seen was a fix for dropped calls on iPhone 12 & 13.. I guess one can only hope GEOFENCE is fixed but doubt it... Well let us see what happens next few days.. Roman

I just got this response from Mobilinc: Apple broke geofencing in iOS 15.0. It appears to be marginally better in iOS 15.1, but there are still known bugs and reliability issues with iOS informing apps when the boundary is crossed with all 3rd party apps that use geo-fencing. I've been testing this here and while iOS regularly tells MobiLinc that it's left a geo-fence, I rarely see iOS tell MobiLinc that it has "re-entered" a geo-fence. We're hoping that Apple fixes the issue in an update to iOS 15. Right now there's nothing 3rd party apps can do to work around the iOS reliability part of the geo-fence detection problem. Thanks for this. I use ML and have also been having problems, exactly as described here, but only about 50% of the time. Will hope it gets fixed soon.
Geddy Posted February 19, 2022 Posted February 19, 2022 Just in case anybody following this thread hadn't seen in another thread that as of iOS 15.3 the Geofence aspect of iOS seem to have been returned to normal function. 2
sdynak Posted February 19, 2022 Posted February 19, 2022 Thanks.. I suspected that.. I pretty much have been using Locative which was working even with the last update pretty well. I did notice my notifications for Mobilinc seemed consistent with 15.3 but I had already cut all my programs over. Good to know others are seeing the same in case I do need Mobilinc again.

It's truly bizarre that it took Apple 5 months to fix this glaring issue.... and yet they didn't list it as a fix, but it does seem to be consistently working. Does anyone else have data points? is geo-fencing working correctly again or not?
dbwarner5 Posted February 19, 2022 Posted February 19, 2022 As I said above, I did nothing to my Mobilinc geofence during this whole time. It stopped working for several months, and then with 15.2 started working. Now with 15.3 its has been working wonderfully. Better then it ever has. 1
wrj0 Posted February 19, 2022 Posted February 19, 2022 Geofence was sporadic for me in iOS 15.2 but has been functioning consistently in iOS 15.3. 1 1
