I just upgraded to the Series 500 module and was wondering if I should just throw away the old 300 module, or if there is some limited value in it.  For example, if someone is content to stay on older ISY version and doesn't yet have a Z-wave module, could they utilize this module?   I'd give it away to anyone who wants it.

its value is pretty limited.  I put mine in my spares drawer, but i doubt it will ever be used.

I don't think having someone start out with a 300 is advantageous to them.

I've sold most, but I do have a box gallery.  (Empty iPhone boxes)

I also have a box of cube chargers, lighting cables and ear buds... I get why they aren't including those anymore.

I also have iPhone 3g... I can still use it for a couple of games and browsing (although many modern websites no longer like antique Safari or Chrome)... it seems so small!!

Would those be useful to use as Hotspot for mobile backup or central WAN connections?

Have you already had too many tropical beverages today?    I'm not sure I can parse that question... the empty boxes in the box gallery?

@larryllix is back in Mexico again ? BTW Very surprisingly, almost no Quebec cars in South Florida, as usual in winter. I had expected these to return after the US re-opened its borders.

I miss telling the Quebecois in French to drive faster :-)

my wife and I haven't scheduled mexico yet, we want to and we are both fully vaccinated, but the thought of having to be tested to come home is keeping us from scheduling.... we also know a few locals and ex-pats in Puerto Vallarta and we get reports that the level of virus spread is much greater than the tourist websites are reporting....

Id recycle it. Until recently, mine was in my test ISY but since its no longer supported its pretty much worthless. Someone may want it but its not worth anything. Id recycle it

This year we have travelled abroad a few times, but being very careful. Testing before coming back was easy, directly at the hotels in both countries...... a matter of a few minutes with results a few hours later.

we are likely overdoing the fear level.... but you'd have to know my wife.. But I see her point... Test positive and then hope a hotel has a room for you for 2 more weeks, or whatever it takes... (we typically do AirBnB's, which will have another guest booked as soon as we leave).  Then phone the Dog camp back home and tell them the dogs will be there much much longer....

You make a very good point. If we would test positive abroad, that would be a big issue !

All dependent on much you watch the news stations. I still do not personally know anybody that had the disease. I have heard many stating they already had COVID-19 a year before it broke out though. :)

However we still follow all the rules as best we can. Mexican resort does it's due diligence but doesn't really enforce strict rules in some places. Many cultures from around the world see things differently. It can be tough distancing.

Wrist temperatures are scanned at each restaurant entrance. Funny thing about that is some people, on forums, were freaking out about being tracked via scans of your level (not likely tagged/chipped) bracelet. The answer was...don't offer that wrist for scanning. :) Imagination is a powerful tool.

Back on topic: What do I do with a 256GB iPad that could not be OS updated and now refuses to run apps it was purchased with a few years ago? Consider the cost of the 300 Zwave board a rental at $0.0x per month and now the term is up.

We have friends that are both natives of Puerto Vallarta and friends from group of Ex-pats that live there most of the time (we considered becoming permanent residents with dual citizenship)... they tell us virus control and vaccination level is low.

Just because you don't know anyone doesn't mean anything. A friend of mine in California lost a part of his family (Aunt, Uncle, and 2 cousins). A year later his 22 year old sister still requires oxygen. On a personal level, I lost one of my best friends, nephew, and Uncle. I pray no one has to go through or watch someone go through but when you see it, it changes your perspective on it.

While the news doesn't talk about it as much, COVID is very much still a reality. My wife's a doctor and gets to watch what people go through on a regular basis.

As an outsider, let me just comment that this could serve as a textbook example of thread drift in the future.  Pretty sure there's no connection between the 300 series dongle and COVID.
