mapeter Posted December 31, 2021 Posted December 31, 2021 I have an ISY994i/IR Pro as well as a Polisy Pro. I use the ISY IR support to trigger scenes and programs. When the time comes to migrate to ISY on Polisy, what are people planning to do for IR support? (I suspect it is a small population of users.)
Michel Kohanim Posted December 31, 2021 Posted December 31, 2021 @mapeter, Unfortunately not. With kind regards, Michel

I suspect not enough users need the feature enough to warrant adding it. Most likely you'd want to keep your Isy separate from polisy if it's that important vs running everything on a single box
bpwwer Posted December 31, 2021 Posted December 31, 2021 Since the Polisy has USB ports, it should be possible to add a USB IR receiver and write a node server to interact with it. Not a direct replacement for the IR support in the 994i/IR but should be able to provide the functional equivalent. And, no, I'm not volunteering to write the node server at this time 1
hart2hart Posted December 31, 2021 Posted December 31, 2021 Another alternative is GCLInk by io_guy. I’ve been using it for years as a supplement to ISY IR. It’s a windows console app and I have a HTPC server where it runs. I’m guessing with a little investigating it would run on a RPI. 1
oberkc Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 I wonder if one of those Itach WF2IR-type devices, along with a network resource, could be made to work. I am (unfortunately) uncertain whether they can receive IR, or just transmit.
gdavis Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 Count me as one who uses IR to trigger numerous scenes and programs. I shall miss that layer of flexibility and control in Polisy. The ISY994i is integrated into all of my Harmony activities and sends IR commands for use as triggers. My first thought on a solution is to re-introduce an IR543 X10 bridge into the setup and use X10 commands as triggers but will certaily be watching all advice and suggestions here.
mapeter Posted January 1, 2022 Author Posted January 1, 2022 I purchased a Keene IR Anywhere a few years ago and wrote a proof of concept NodeJS program to fire REST commands to the ISY when it received certain IR commands. When I have some free time I think I am going to use the NodeJS Node Server template and see if I can come up with something that works.
TrojanHorse Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 Bummer. I will miss that feature even though it’s a small piece of puzzle for me. It’s nice to use the universal AV remote to control lights when watching movies. I could use plex webhooks but not everything is watched on plex. And with harmony dropping their remotes I’m not sure what technology would fill the void. Would need to somehow send IP commands to the ISY via AV remote I suppose. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
PVitello Posted January 4, 2022 Posted January 4, 2022 I also use ir to trigger isy programs that control lights. Dropping ir in polisy would be a major loss for me.

You can always run your isy I'm tandem with polisy so that you have ir control. Harmony hub based remotes can still be easily found as well allowing you to use the Harmony nodeserver to accomplish the same thing 2

(besides triggering when activities are started and ended?) I would also be interested in IR on the Polisy - has anyone in this forum ever used a Flirc? It is a popular USB IR Receiver for adding IR capabilities to devices such as the FireTV stick, Nvidia Shield, Raspberry Pi and others - it might be a good candidate for supporting on the Polisy.

The hue emulator nodeserver allows you to connect lights to the buttons. That's too much work for me though. My setup is geared towards things happening based on device status.

I do not believe that one is limited to the "dedicated smart home buttons" to interact the the hue emulator. I recall that other buttons of the remote could also be configured, via the harmony app, to control devices you have linked to the hub. Unfortunately, those buttons and devices would need to be associated to a specific activity, unlike the dedicated smart home buttons, and would only work when the activity was running. Shutting off (or changing) activities would result in the included devices also shutting off. You might be able to fool around with the activity startup and shutdown sequences, however.
