Serial and USB PLMs not found by IoP

So, I'm migrating from 994i to Polisy and PLM status is Not Connected for either my Serial or USB PLM.

IoP has been working for the last couple days with only z-wave and PG3. I restored IoP from the 994i backup. Insteon and z-wave are both checked in configuration. But no matter because the ioP is not seeing the PLM. I'm using the original Serial cable that came with it however I've never used the cable so I can't know if it's good.

How can I troubleshoot this? Will call support tomorrow if I can't get it going tonight.

thanks,   -phil

If you have Insteon support checked, saved, rebooted and PLM still shows not connected, then either the PLM is no good or you have some kind of filter on the power line interfering with Insteon signal.

Make sure you are not on UPS power with the PLM. You can also try a factory reboot of the PLM. However, if it was from a working system it will require running Restore PLM afterwards.

Insteon is checked and saved, no UPS. Strange that neither the Serial or USB PLM work. Both show not connected.

Try changing power for PLM to a different circuit. Something near by may be interfering.

Have you tried power cying Polisy?

Or, your PLM's are bad.

@vbphil, to which port are you connecting the serial?

With kind regards,
Michel

@MichaelHi, was just starting to submit support ticket. I'm connecting the Serial PLM to the DB9 serial port. Just finished doing a continuity check on the Serial cable and it looks good. Also re-verified the Serial PLM working with 99i. During this process last night my 994i ISY quit working so I switched to my 99i to verify PLM is working.

Issue solved!!

Worked online with Michel. He took control of my system and performed his magic!

After all that it turned out to be the serial cable. It doesn't make a good solid connection to the PLM. You have to push it in and over so that it makes good contact. I pushed a stick in with it and that worked.

Also, turns out my USB PLM is probably kaput. It's a left over from my Hoomseer days. Still have to troubleshoot what happened to the 994i during all this. Might be the power supply bit the dust. All I have is a power on light that is slightly flickering.

Anyway, I've restored the IoP from my 994i backup and all looks good to go. Still more to do.

Update:

994i power supply was bad. It measured 5vdc under no-load but must be breaking down under load. Used the 99i's power supply and the 994i powered up fine. This is a 5vdc 1amp supply. Ordered some 5vdc 2amp units to have on hand.

Update USB PLM

I mistakenly thought I had a USB PLM from an older installation. It was, instead, a SmartLabs PowerLinc V2 USB #2414U. That will not work with Polisy. My bad.
