kcrossley Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 How do you know when your PLM is starting to fail?
Michel Kohanim Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Hi kcrossley, If it randomly stops communicating with ALL your devices. If you have sporadic communications with a select few of your devices, I do not think that would constitute PLM failure but general communications failure. With kind regards, Michel

Michel Kohanim Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Ah: What you have to do is: 1. Make sure your PLM is not plugged into the same outlet as your computer, monitor, UPS, etc. 2. If you have any of your devices controlling CFL, Halogen, Low voltage transformers (such as fish tanks), turn the load off and retry. If that helps, then you will have to put the loads on FilterLincs 3. If the unreliable devices are SWL 35s or KPL 1.5s, then get them replaced And, before you fall sleep, think about the LAST change before things started going awry. With kind regards, Michel If you have sporadic communications with a select few of your devices, I do not think that would constitute PLM failure but general communications failure. kcrossley Posted January 8, 2010 Author Posted January 8, 2010 I really haven't done anything to the system, save try the latest ISY alpha software. Whenever I try to update a device the system seems really slow. Not sure if it's theISY-26 or the PLM, but I suspect the PLM. Foe example, when I modify the on level or ramp rate for any Insteon device, sometimes it takes a good 10-20 seconds for the System Busy dialog to come up. Is there any kind of diagnostics test I can run on the PLM and ISY-26?
Michel Kohanim Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 kcrossley, Please go to Event Viewer/Level 3. Query any one of your devices and observe the event viewer. If for every INST-ACK you get an INST-SRX in about 2 seconds, then you are OK. You might have trouble communicating with specific devices but I really do not think it's the PLM. History tells me that PLMs are either dead or alive. With kind regards, Michel I really haven't done anything to the system, save try the latest ISY alpha software.
