How to: Kasa Node Server on Polisy

Recommended Posts

I have been trying to migrate from Isy 994i to Isy running on Polisy so I can remove my dependency on the many Insteon devices that operate unreliably and fail without warning.  Kasa was mentioned as a valid option which motivated me to go in the Polisy and node server choice.

I just received a sample selection of switches and outlets from Kasa to experiment and installed two devices.  I had loaded the KASA Node server on Polisy and configure 01 Kasa node server shows(see attached screen shot).  I do not know how to proceed to see my new devices on Isy and to interact with scenes or programs.  Is there documentation on this to avoid my reckless button pushing that's sure to ruin things.

@Dogan Bora Shouldn't do anything in ISY under Node Server Configuration. The README lists the steps below to install. Is there anything showing on the PG3 Dashboard (maybe 192.168.1.78:3000/dashboard) or in the Kasa Node Server Configuration screen in the PG3?

Installation

This Node server will only work on a machine running on your local network, it will not work with Polyglot Cloud until TP-Link releases a public API for their cloud interface.

  1. Backup Your ISY in case of problems!
    • Really, do the backup, please
  2. Go to the Polyglot Store in the UI and install.
  3. Open the admin console (close and re-open if you had it open) and you should see a new node 'Kasa Controller'
  4. The auto-discover should automatically run and find your devices and add them. Verify by checking the Node server log
    • While this is running you can view the Node server log in the Polyglot UI to see what it's doing

Thanks I think I am up to speed now.  I was confused because Kasa Smart Plug did not show up with the other Kasa Controller Devices.  Also some bulbs, though like the other Kasa devices added in Kasa iPhone App, but not powered did not show up.  I will physically install those bulbs to see if they show up.

Yea, my KASA NS works great!...but what is the right way to add a new KASA device after the NS has already been installed?  To refresh and look for new KASA devices?  In general, the same question applies to any NS, i.e. how to refresh it?

According to the readme linked above, you should choose discover to discover new devices
