How to display Celsius with one decimal

Recommended Posts

I'm using ISY version 5.3.4 with Z-wave support and I want to know if I can display my thermostat temperature - and accordingly, use in my programs - in Celsius with one decimal. My z-wave thermostat is reporting the temperature with one decimal, in Celsius, but the ISY console can display only the integer number.

@oper8 highlight the variable row, right click mouse Change Precision.

No, this is the temperature reported by a Z-Wave thermostat. Model is GoControl GC-TBZ48.

I'm attaching a screen. You see the temperature in Celsius in integer number, but the thermostat can display or set the temp in Celsius with one decimal. I think it can do increments of 0.5 C.

I would need the capability to be able to program the thermostat via the ISY in increments of 0.5C for better resolution.

I understand now, and you did say it was a z-wave thermostat in the first post.   The thermostat is reporting full degrees if it can be changed you need to dig into the thermostats documentation and see if there is a parameter that can be changed.

If you need someone to assist with that then post the make/model of the thermostat.

I'm going to request this thread get moved over to z-wave section, it's really a z-wave question.

Thank you for the help.

This can be more than just a Z-Wave topic. See attached a screen from the same system but showing a Insteon thermostat mode 2441TH. ISY is reporting the temperature properly, with one decimal, in this case 21.5 C, the thermostat is actually showing the round-up integer temp of 22 C on its display, and on the ISY there is no way to set the thermostat to a temp. with one decimal, the drop down temp scale is only showing integer numbers.

Anyway, it's not something very critical, but more of an annoyance for us users outside US not using the USCS measure system. It would be great if these issues could be fixed.

Can this model set the desired temp to a #.5° C? All the display examples I see online show this as whole degrees only. Perhaps those are only °F temps.

I suspect this is a z-wave limit from GoControl that isn't passing the .5°C information back to the node to be read by the ISY.

Sorry...I don't use z-wave or other thermostat, but this appears to be that most don't set to partial degree temp, but rather whole degree. Indeed, probably a (outside of the) US problem since 0.5° C can be about 1°F difference that could be an issue. But I think it's a thermostat manufacturer issue not feeding the 10th of degree to the node that the ISY would pickup.

Maybe @Chris Jahn would have more insight as he seems to be the z-wave guru for UD.

Any thermostat setting parameters I have seen so far have been set with pulldown menu selections.
If the code writer did not supply half degrees then you need to talk to the NS author to include C support for his/her NS setup tables.

@oper8 since we couldn't help you here you should open a support ticket with Universal Devices and ask them directly if this is an ISY issue, a Z-wave issue, or product developer issue. They would know best. I think the replies here have all pointed to the product and manufacturer of such product not sending the full information to the ISY.

Submit a Ticket:       https://www.universal-devices.com/my-tickets
Email:                           support@universal-devices.com

Either way...report back with what you find out! Would be good to get a real resolution to the question to possibly help others that might have the similar issue.

I was referring to the pulldown menus in ISY, not the thermostat. Anyway, never mind. I see nobody does understand my problem. I'll leave it be.
Thanks all ! Issue closed.
If the pulldown menus do not offer decimal degrees, then the device doesn't support them, or the code writer didn't write the options into the code.

Likely the latter problem due to most here being American and only familiar with foreignheat. Talking to the code writer may get you special code added to support your cause. Users here are typically quite helpful and very supportive
