Techman Posted May 4, 2022 Posted May 4, 2022 Did you follow the installation instructions? Is your ethernet cable plugged into the port closest to the DB9 connector. Can you access the Polisy from the admin console?
jkraus Posted May 4, 2022 Author Posted May 4, 2022 It was fully functional, pulled out the usb stick upon reinsertion acted funny, so power cycled it, and now nothing
jkraus Posted May 4, 2022 Author Posted May 4, 2022 up till then all was fully configured and working fine

Techman Posted May 4, 2022 Posted May 4, 2022 Did you remove the Z-wave dongle while the Polisy was powered up?
jkraus Posted May 4, 2022 Author Posted May 4, 2022 OK it seems to be back on my network now as I can see it as a client, but so far have no been able to log into it despite clearing java cauch etc.
jkraus Posted May 4, 2022 Author Posted May 4, 2022 OK good news I can now log into on portal web access, but still not through java, but it seems to be working at least
Techman Posted May 4, 2022 Posted May 4, 2022 Clear your Java cache, including applications, then download the ISY Launcher https://isy.universal-devices.com/start.jnlp
Techman Posted May 4, 2022 Posted May 4, 2022 1 minute ago, jkraus said: yea, no luck What do you see when you open the ISY Launcher?
jkraus Posted May 4, 2022 Author Posted May 4, 2022 before when it was working I did a DHCP address reservation on my router, that was working fine, but could that be a problem?
jkraus Posted May 4, 2022 Author Posted May 4, 2022 nothing, even if I try to add the URL (thing this is right) no luck Https://192.168.1.43:8443/desc
jkraus Posted May 4, 2022 Author Posted May 4, 2022 wow, 15th time I tried to enter the URL it is now working, strange, but thanks for your guidance
bretta Posted May 8, 2022 Posted May 8, 2022 Same thing happened to me. UD sent a flash chip. Had to ask for, and wait for, instructions on how it should be inserted. Installed and got about 15 more minutes out of the Polisy before it failed again, same way, left light only and no comms. There is no question the hardware is garbage. I suspect heat is a big factor in the failures. I'd bet my polisy's case was above 100F. At over $400, you'd think they could spring for a fan instead of drilling half a dozen holes in the sides of the case, where they achieve nothing.
jkraus Posted May 8, 2022 Author Posted May 8, 2022 (edited) I am sorry to hear that. Actually UDI did a remote into my device and it was not dead I’m not sure what required to get it going again but all is well now Edited May 8, 2022 by jkraus

They will correct the issue. 1
bretta Posted May 8, 2022 Posted May 8, 2022 I did, and they did. They sent a label and refunded me in full. The only honorable thing to do considering they fully know they are selling garbage. 2 1

It feels comfortably warm. If it feels hot, hot then something is seriously wrong. I wonder if your power puck is outputting the wrong voltage. Does it feel hot?
TJF1960 Posted May 8, 2022 Posted May 8, 2022 @brettaI'm too am sorry that you had problems as well. This forum is full of great people who would be willing to go to great lengths to help you out. UDI's customer support is beyond the best as well. I found them to be very responsive and on many occasions have gone above and beyond to help out. I'm not sure what's your basing your opinion on, but, it is your opinion And you know what they say about opinions... I could be reading more into it but my first thoughts after reading the last couple of your posts, if you approached Tech support support with the same chip on your shoulder that you seem to have on this forum then I don't blame them for cutting their losses with you. Likely the best $400 they ever spent. 3

The only honorable thing to do considering they fully know they are selling garbage. The hardware is from pcengines and is world renowned for reliability. After reading you past posts, I think there maybe some issues with your power source. The processor used in polisy is a passive cool model and is mounted on the bottom of the board. AMD white papers don't have any design for active cooling on the processor. Polisy shouldn't ever get hot enough to cause any issues. However, just like any electronic device it is sensitive to voltage drops and spikes. Also note that any computer processor is vulnerable to different type of electrical waves. You may want to do some line quality checks. 2

How did you complete your evaluation and arrive at the conclusion that they are selling garbage? How did you arrive at the conclusion that UDI also thinks it's products are garbage? If your premise is true, how can any user be satisfied? What specifically does "Garbage" mean in this context? You did get one thing correct!! Universal-devices will accept returns and cheerfully fully refund any user that is unsatisfied with their purchase. They also have world class support that doesn't end with warranty. Users can contact the company with support needs anytime for the life of the product (which seems to be many many years based on products prior to polisy). 2
