FloridaGary Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 Hi All, Now that I have my Polisy installed and programmed, I am exploring PG3. There are a few servers that caught my attention, but since I have never used a feature like this before, I was wondering what functionality it would provide? Is there anyone in this forum that has tried/used any of the following: August - Although the caution listed is not confidence inspiring IAquaLink - For some reason I don't see this anymore. I believe I saw it on PG Cloud, but its not on the current version of PG3 (3.0.61) Rachio - For my irrigation Harmony Hub - We've had this a few years now for our AV setup and since my initial setup and programming, no changes have been needed. Do I need this because Harmony isn't selling/supporting their Hub? Tesla - My wife and I both drive Tesla vehicles and their app works well. What would this node provide? As always, all feedback is welcome. Gary

Are you using Cable? With streaming through an Apple TV or Roku, I can't imagine I can program the node to turn on to a specific channel since everything is App based. Back in my cable days, I had full control of the TV, Channels, Volume, DVD Player etc through Harmony and Alexa. Edited May 9, 2022 by FloridaGary

What can be done and how useful they are depends on your imagination. While harmony no longer make remotes, that doesn't diminish what can be done with them. For example, My are part of my goodnight and away programs. I hit away, the TV's will shut down along with everything else connected to the button. With my goodnight button, depending on room, TV's will shut off while others will turn on. The simple act of me turning off the TV with the remote will also trigger my goodnight scene depending on room and time. Depending on whose code is used coming home determines what turns on (if the tv is off). While things may be app based (if that's how you watch tv), this can allow the tv and remote to be ready when you sit down to watch it vs manually turning it on and having to wait for the remote to go through it's steps. There's a lot more that I do. Those are just a couple of quick examples to show what can be done if you take the time to think things through an doubt into motion.

I have something similar to what you described, but I use Alexa to trigger the scenes. Example: In the morning, I just tell Alexa to turn on kitchen scene and TV. Lights, TV, Apple TV device and Stereo Tuner all turn on. When I sit down, I just select the streaming app and show to watch. Conversely, the opposite shuts everything down.

Alexa can do those things but the Isy takes it to another level by allowing you to integrate things using natural habits or automatically to run your devices. Voice can be included as well but it's not necessary. Like i said, it comes down to your imagination. 1

Using the Holidays Google node server, I have wake-up programs that run depending on sub-calendars that I created in my Google calendar. As an example, if my wife works then lights go on, curtains open, TV goes on etc and after a set time the lights and tV go off, all this automatically when the calendar is set as a working day for my wife. Usually I set my wife's working days during the weekend for the coming week and this takes me about 30 seconds. I have other sub-calendars (and ISY programs) for when I have meetings at a specific time, for when the cleaning lady comes, etc etc. This goes way beyong what Alexa or Google Home can do.
