Calendar function

I would love to see a calendar function within ISY that way you could have things work on holiday automatically. It would work like this. Say you have your lights or AC go off for work on Monday at 7 AM. With the calendar function it would know that Monday is a holiday and you could have an override or (holiday time) so that the lights and AC wouldn't go off at 7 AM, but maybe 9 AM. Something like that. What do you think of this?

I second this request. Would also be beneficial if you know you are going on vacation in the future and want to set it before you leave. Or you go away every other weekend in the summer.

I think if there was a function like this, there should be some sort of google calendar/iCal integration, perhaps host the iCal calendar off the ISY's network module? I have to sleep on this, just read this post lol.

Hi agent0014,

I am thinking of something much simpler: in the UI, you are presented with the calendar which has all the holidays listed. Now, ISY does not have to really know the "name" of the holidays for processing schedules! It just has to know the dates/times. So, it's mostly a UI function that provides the users with a calendar.

Additionally, I'd like the ability to choose a period (say 'If April through August') so my lighthing programs and timers can deal with the extra twilight time we get in the Northwest.

My request is kind of related. Is there a way to schedule a calendar period without the year? I want to enable a feature just from May 1 to October 31, every year.

Thanks

Hello,

Actually if we use the calendar FROM 15 hours 25/6/10 TO 17 hours 18/9/10 THEN B4 is ON ELSE B4 is OFF, it means : the B4 is ON from 15h. 25/6/10 to 17 h. 18/9/10 & OFF from 19/9/10 to 24/6/11.

I would like to have the option (if it is possible & useful) for a period : FROM 15 h. 25/6/10 to 17 h. 18/9/10 THEN B4 is ON (every day during this period, option for every year) ELSE B4 is OFF (every day during this period, option for every year).

Now I am using the box ENABLE/DISABLE but it will be good to have something automatic. But perhaps it exists another method...

Thanks, Denis

Hi Michel,

Yes, we can do it with From & To but if we use it the Insteon module will be On From "date" To "date" & OFF after this "date".

My question is : can we have something like this :

From "3 PM" & "16/6/10" To 7 PM & "20/9/10" for every day during this period, Then B4 On, Else B4 Off (it means off not during this period & off between from 7.01 PM to 2.59 PM).

I have tried to use the function AND like this but no result :

- From 7.30 AM on 11/6/2010

To 3 PM on 16/9/2010

AND

From 7.30 AM

To 3 PM (same day)

Then Set B4 On

Else Set B4 OFF

Hi Denis,

I see.

I think you can use a folder with From 12:00 AM To 4 days from now. Then in that folder put the time condition. In short, that folder is only true during those dates from morning to 4 days from now.

With kind regards,

Michel

Hi JamesB,

All implemented requirements sell more ISYs. The question is: which ones sell more?!

At the moment, we do not have any plans of supporting integration with external calendars.

I would like to add a vote for the ability to consume Google Calendars. As an Android user, I am already putting work holidays, vacations, overnight guest visitors in to make sure that I remember the events are happening, it would be excellent to be able to have ISY make decisions based on this data with out the need to enter it twice or manually trigger events.

One limitation of Google Calendars is the missing Category feature. Although I could prefix each event with a 3 character code (VAC, HOL, etc..) it would not be the ideal situation. I think a better solution would be to allow ISY to configure multiple calendars so that I could separate Vacation, Guest, Holiday, etc... calendars so ISY would know what type of event each one is.

Hello JamesB,

Apologies for not responding sooner. It's really not a simple request as a) it depends on network connectivity and B) it requires depending on 3rd party functions which may go away (such as WB), and c) it touches all parts of the code that depend on time/calendar functions.

All this said, it's still on our requirements list.

With kind regards,

Michel

With ISY system variables accessible from/to programmes (especially calendar functions) it would think, with the creativity displayed around here, third party code writers could create software to download calendar events from Google calendars and drop them into the ISY on a regular updating schedule.

Something like this could possibly satisfy this want or at least make it easier for a once per year/month update. eg. Yearly update of statute holidays.

Hopefully v5.0 will open up some of these doors.

Just wanted to keep this reasonable, and extremely useful request visible ...

I wanted to give this a bump for those still interested.

I now have time and date in ISY from a CAI board and can do holiday schedules without needing google calendars. I use google calendars elsewhere but ISY still needs  access to system functions as variables for wildcard calendar functions or you have to reprogram it by hand every year to match. I believe this is the same problem even with google calendars.  Now that I have calendar functions in variable I can do this quite simply via math functions.  eg. If  sys.date is  July 1 Then ...

I believe v5.0 may  obsolete much of this need for external calendars.
