Cannot figure out Pushover Node server

I have created a pushover account and can use the e-mail gateway to get my IoP messages to my iPhone in a timely fashion (Verizon e-mail to text has become very unreliable), but I was trying to use and understand the PG2 Pushover Node Server - I have not moved anything to PG3 yet because there is 1 node server not yet available under PG3 - anyways, I understand how to put in the api_key and user_key into the configuration - I have also added "home" into the configuration with no value - this has created a "home" under the Push arrow icon in the IoP main tab and "home" has a message button and drop down menu (and I can add program code to send a pushover message from the drop list) but when I run the program or push the message button - I never get the message - the node server log file says it is sending a message but nothing ever happens - I have read a lot of info. on this but this node server is not straightforward - can anyone assist on this?

I am not sure if development has stopped on the PG2 version but you are more likely to get better support with PG3 version.

You can run PG3 along with PG2 so I recommend you install Notification for PG3. I had some issues at first but I have it figured out now and there is discussion in the pushover forum under PG3... there are recent enhancements from the developer that make it even easier to send messages all through IoP with customizations subject field, even supporting variables - with no need to enter them on the PG3 web interface.

Have you installed the pushover app on your phone? I am running under PG3 on my IOP with no issues. Messages from IOP go directly to the app on my phone no email or text.

It's been a long time since I tried the Push node server and I don't remember why for sure but it didn't fit my needs--but it might have been the messages weren't customizable enough.

I use @JimboAutomates node server titled "Notification".  It too is a little confusing at first (learning curve), but after it's understood it's far more powerful in how it can be used.   I think this is also the only Pushover solution that will retry on common internet failures, such as no 200 Ok reply from Pushover.

There are 3 methods that I know of to use Pushover, directly from NR's as documented in the Wiki, The Push node server, and the Notification node server.

@JTsao, I've been using the Push Node server on both PG2 and now PG3 successfully.  Did you set the "disclaimer_read"  option to "true" in your configuration, and restart the Node server?

Thanks to all for helping - I did do the "disclaimer read" BTW - I was unable to get the NS working but it turns out that the IoP can send pushover messages via an email address without the NS so I've been doing that - sometime in the (near) future, I am going to transition all of my NS to PG3, so at that time I'll revisit

By the way, what prompted all of this was that text messages from the IoP became unreliable (very delayed) with Verizon Wireless and now (just recently, past few days), my wife's phone (T-Mobile) is no longer receiving texts from the IoP - is anyone else seeing a similar problem?

Yes there are a couple of threads discussing problems.  That is one in particular.

The Network Resources option might be the easiest to get going since you are having issues with the NS.

Edit:  Link to UDI Wiki to setup Pushover Network Resources.
